2/4 oop tough spot vs aggro reg

CO: $537.26
BN: $536.58
SB: $260.28
BB: $209.19
HJ: $400.23 (Hero)
Preflop ($6.00) (5 Players)
Hero was dealt A A 5 8
Hero raises to $12, CO folds, BN calls $12, SB folds, BB folds
Flop ($30.00) Q 6 7 (2 Players)
Hero bets $20, BN raises to $58, Hero calls $38
Turn ($146.00) Q 6 7 6 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $98, Hero calls $98
River ($342.00) Q 6 7 6 Q (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $339.20
Hand is against one of the more aggressive regs at 2/4. Played with him in the past, he is very capable of triple barreling air in various spots, likes to put pressure on many boards, etc. Playing 27/22 pre, 3bets a lot in position.

I have multiple decisions on this hand based on the way I played the hand.
1) Flop - I cbet here standard, expecting to get raised somewhat often by all his value range as well as a bunch of (semi) bluffs. So my plan was to either cbet/jam or cbet/call and check/jam most turns. Any line clearly better, thoughts on flop?
2) Turn - one of the very few cards I didn't have a plan on. Check/calling good? What if I didn't have spades?
3) River - mixed feelings about this river, as it reduces both his combos of boats as well as mine. Do you call?

i would bet the turn i think this is a good card and villain will play very honest vs us. I don't like a c/c because we don't no which card helps us on the river and we often have to fold the better hand. Most of the time we will face a river bet from this opponent.

As played i fold the river

What are we repping by leading OTT? I do not think an aggressive reg will play very honest there.

If Villain is raising flops a lot I think this would be a good hand to make a small 3bet / get it in. As played I do not think you can do anything different OTT and I would also tend toward folding OTR unless he 3barrels everytime (never gives up on a bluff) or you think he might suspect you fold a lot.

given your open ender and double backdoor flush draws I like 3-betting the flop and going with it if he chooses to jam. Id choose ~135. If hes a tough player I would be 3-betting him on flops like these so he cant check back the turn, which i feel hell do with a lot of his weaker 1pr+oesd or bare oesd types. bet-calling to x/jam turns seems simplistic to me and relies a lot on him betting turns indiscriminately and winning regs often find this the first counter people try against their lines; checking to him only allows him to realize equity any equity he turns.

as played i fold the river, i find sizings today go for max value, (without playing him) id expect his bluffs to be of smaller sizes.

Villain - aggressive 3bets a lot in position, what is villain's preflop calling range on the BTTN vs HJ, with 2 relatively shortstack in the SB/BB. I think this will adjust somewhat his preflop calling range/3betting range.

Q; Is Villain always 3betting high/medium rundowns in position?

JT98,T987,9876,8765.

- FLOP - Qh7s6c

AhAs8h5s - 48.12%
JT98,T987,9876,8765 - 51.88%

Preflop calling range, which will raise the flop
QQxx,QT98,Q987,9877

AhAs8h5s - 37.57%
QQxx,QJ98,QT98,Q987,9877 - 62.43%

Basically on the flop Hero is flipping vs a rundown range, and behind the "preflop calling range" (my assumption). There are a few combo's villain could bluff-raise the flop with, KJT8,KJ98, which has some equity, gutters, backdoors.

On the flop, it really depends on his preflop calling range, if I want to 3bet the flop.

- TURN - 6s

I think Villain will continu with both ranges, and putting pressure on HERO, either villain has improved HS/equity-wise. And the board got somewhat scary for AA,KK

- RIVER - Qd

I think the river is bad card to bluff, for villain because HERO range looks like Qxxx,KKxx,AAxx, both KK,AA combo's with spades, assuming HERO will fold the other combo's AA,KK combo's on the turn.

Why I think it's bad bluff card on the river
1) Expect villain to take his showdown value with Qx, it will be marginal to value shove with KQxx,QTxx.
2) Therefore it would be suicidal to bluff this card, because villain can almost always expect to get called by HERO, when HERO has like AQxx.

I would fold the river.

Anyone seeing his turn AND river bet incongruent with too much value hands, as me while time-banking the river? I mean, he's never jamming naked 6x hands on the river, he's probably not playing random Qx hands like this in the first place and he is very likely prone to bluff any missed draw on the river with this much money in the pot?

i dont know what you want to mean by "incongruent with too much value"?

The normal thinking of reg on the river if he has a boat is to get max value from Qx/kk/aa as its now harder for him to have a boat
OnceItRun 12 years, 1 month ago
He's obviously jamming boats. I was refering that 6x doesn't bet river (unless its a boat), there are not many Qx hands that randomly raise flop and bet turn (then get lucky on the river) AND he will 3barrel all of his bluffs...so his range is quite heavy on bluffs and not that heavy on value hands - the board pair on the turn AND the river reduces a lot of boat combinations that play this way. So, ingame I thought - wow, he should be very bluff heavy here taking this line? Am I way off?
