Flatting or 3 betting I think both have merit here, I had not been 3 betting much at the table so elected to do so here in position and with a pretty strong holding - there has not been much 4 betting at all.

Tricky spot on the flop, although I have a pretty strong hand and have hit the flop well...if I get any action - unless it is from a hand like A956 with weaker FD then I'm not really that excited - i.e. it would be hard to get it in of this flop in good shape vs the specific villains in the hand (they are playing pretty honest) and be in good shape.
Not really sure what to do on the flop, felt like I should bet as I have hit a lot of the flop and I don't really want to give away free cards multi-way (although I guess it wouldn't be that bad to check behind) - then chose a bet sizing that reflects my feelings about the hand lol
After he check raised the flop, sigh I called because I have position, we are deep, I've got good odds and a nice looking hand (only 1 nut out potential though) but really need some help in putting together a thought process in this spot and figuring out what to do on the turn...my read was that he had a hand like KKxx with or without Kx of diamonds, if he doesn't have that then it could be a hand like QTJ9 with QTdd (Very bad shape against this) - he may also flat AA pre-flop but there is not a lot of A's left.
