THanks for all the feedback guys lol
Without a read I would call and pat behind. This is one of those spots where player tendencies vary a ton. Some people would never lead here with worse than a 9 (some with no worse than an 8!), while some players lead all pat Jx or better and some snows or unimproved strong draws. Gotta know your opponents!
Even though you're behind most players' ranges here, I think the pot odds are a little too attractive to lay this down.
Since this is a 27$ tourney I'm going to go ahead and assume that some people just haven't got a clue how to play triple draw.
(I'm basing this off playing the 530 8 game on fridays where some people still havent got a clue...).
If that's the case then I agree with phil. Just call and pat and then call. (It's also really likely he leads any pat 10 and maybe even a J or better here I think since he's going to want to price out the guy drawing 2. -not necessarily advocating this strat but I think at this level this is a very big possibility.)
You could also just call here, pat behind and fold post 3rd to a bet. (He's unlikely to bet a T or J post 3rd vs 2nd draw action of pat/pat.)
I think the pure randomness of a 27$ 2-7 tourney dictates we should pick the first strat (call, pat and then call again) since the chance hes just going nuts is too high).
If you think people are a little more savy we can just call and break the 9 I think.
Pot is ~39 if we call so we need ~ (1/6.5) % equity. or ~15%. We're going to make 865 or 8 natural at about that frequency and we definitely have a +EV spot at that point. We also sometimes improve to 87 or make our 98 back and win occasionally.
Fwiw, I think we can call planning to draw too and sometimes this guy is just going to draw 1 in front of us (stranger things have happened in 27$ mtts I'm sure).
In which case we just pat.
Personally, I think folding is out of the question.
I'm not sure if "4handed in the 27" means youre just playing 4 handed or if this means youre the final 4 of the mtt.
If its the latter then please take into account that ICM dictates you should play more conservatively here (as you and Kzzon are considerably shorter than the rest). My previous post is just looking at Chip EV.
ya sorry final 4
thanks for the feedback
