Anyone have a study on completing upon open in both Stud Hi & Stud/8? Any thoughts on opening ranges and balancing? Opponents reactions vs. standard post, etc? I'd like some real theory discussion here. Don't be afraid to shoot out thoughts!

Tom Coldwell12 years, 2 months agoYeah, I don't think in general the good cash players do this much, if at all. In a tournament when super shallow there's often a reason, but in ring games I think it's more likely to be a leak than a good play (I'm sure there are ways of doing it well, but the complexity of the strategy is probably sufficient that most people open-completing are making an error in doing so).
z0fman12 years, 2 months agomaybe when playing hu u could implement it in ur game...u should bear in mind to be balanced of course
Bryce Yockey12 years, 2 months agoOne spot I think it's interesting is completeing as the only low card in Stud8. I never do it myself, but it seems like a good opportunity to just attack the antes with decent but not great hands (maybe like 3J2hhh?)
I'd never do it in stud hi
Christopher George12 years, 1 month agoI'm not a fan of ever open completing. Maybe it has room in HU or certain tournament situations, but for the most part I'm bringing in the minimum.
As someone who plays low levels in all 3 Stud formats (0.5/1 ish) does that advice follow for low stakes as well - I tend to a TAG style and want people with looser holdings in the pot..
