Large RFI sizes?

Just wondering what open sizing's we should choose for our strategy in super loose live games. I play in 2 games regularly. 2/2 at the casino and a 2/3 home game. In both games if you open to 3x from early to mid position, the pot will very likely be multi way which is a issue as it's tougher to realise an edge in a multi way pot. Both games have large open sizes compared to online and there's a lot of limping in both

I had an ex pro recommend that I open to $15 in the 2/2 game. This is too get people heads up so I can maximise my edge. This means I can't open as many hands. In the 2/2 game this isn't so much of an issue as I can get away limping suited connectors and small pp's where I think it's +EV to do so without getting exploited. Where as in the home game I can't as the players play really well post flop.

So in the 2/2 game should I be limping some hands and opening to $15 with others? Or should I open to $8 and have a more balanced opening range and play more multi way pots?

The 2/3 game is a different beast as if I open to $20 I will still likely get multi way action. To what extent should I be looking to exploit this huge pre flop leak of theirs? I feel if I open to $12 rather than say $20-$25 I am missing out on exploiting such a huge leak and won't have an edge in the game as they play well post flop. But I also want to have a balanced range post flop as they play quite well post and I don't want them to exploit me

Note that having an edge is tough in my city as the casino have a monopoly on poker so the rake is huge. Rake in home games isn't as bad but it isn't great. So I will try to take every opportunity I can to maximise my edge.

Also wanted to know if this concept could generalise to different live games as there's some super fishy 10/20 and 25/50 home games I will be moving up towards that likely play different

8-15 seems good, its just going to be multiway allot that's how these games will play.
Ppl are there to play hands so just design your range and strategy such that you can deal with these multiway situations.

I feel that $12-$15 is the best for a 1/2 or 2/3 game. Like all games at this limit, you'll have ppl calling with an extremely wide range. You have to adjust your game or, in this case, tighten up your pre-flop ranges and play in position more. So, when you get multiple callers your range dominates your opponent's range and will play better post-flop. Keep grinding.

I concur with R. Clemente here. I have experimented with many different open raises sizes for many years and a great default all around open in a 1/2 is $12. I've seen $15 and $20 and depending on the table element, they don't get called enough. It all depends. So when you first sit down, keep to your standard tight strategy and see how people are reacting to different raise sizes and play around.

Don't vary your raise size relative to the strength of your hand, this is a big noob mistake but I've seen decent regs still do this. If you do vary your open raise size you have to vary it randomly.

Thanks. Thing is, $15-$20 raise sizes still get called where I play. Issue is, if I use that size I have to fold a bunch of hands that I'd play otherwise. But when I use a smaller size, I feel like I'm missing out on exploiting the leek these players have where they call $15-$20 raises light. So I've been determining my raise size completely by who's on the table. Using a bigger size with some people, and a smaller size with others
