Break pair with 4 flush?

In the first set if you are first to act and can't see any other cards would you set your pair separately and break up a 4 flush because the odds of hitting your flush are still pretty good or take the "sure thing"?

Also with when choosing to go with a 3 flush or pair & kicker in the bottom the pair is the safer way to go especially in an mtt right?

When first to act I always take the 4 flush even when the pair is AA,
The hand does have some advantages despite loosing the pair in the middle like
the middle hand gains straight and flush draw possibilities both valuable for the double royalty points the middle rewards. But the biggest advantage we forget is the much higher fouling rate of three flush with one of our flush already dead is like 20%
compare to 10% of the four flush there is a 10% difference, there is nothing we will do to make up for that much with our pair, the only exceptions i will make are in position preferably when my flush outs are all life + my pair is big like AA or KK +opponent draws the bottom hand to a non flush like pair or straight draw. I like to have all 3 conditions meet to split 4 flush and still i think I’m erring on the side of to much aggression.
I wanna vomit when i bust a hand that could otherwise score a lot of points had i been little bit less greedy.
Though i can’t prove any of these, they look like the most reasonable things to do.
I will be curious to see what other people think, I’m afraid i could be completely wrong and proven to be the donkey again.

If you are utg and can't see any of the other cards maybe it's best to be safe....AA or KK are very nice to have in the second row though and maybe worth taking a little risk for. If you are on the button and can see that only one or two of your flush cards are out I guess your chances of completing the 3 flush are still pretty good. It sort of depends on the rank of the 3 cards too doesn't it? If they are all small cards you might need that high card in there to win that row. If they are all small cards you could be in trouble if the flush doesn't come with no outs.

I wish I could figure these things out and also at what point it's better to give up on a draw and just take a pair and draw to 2 pair although that's not a very good hand on the bottom. So often I give up on the draw when it would have come. I guess it depends too on whether your opponent is shaping up a monster hand or looks like fouling. Regular open face must have been so much harder

Yes an all of your arguments but think about it 10% of 10 an average pineapple hand is 1 point per hand is to much to risk and what happen when you foul you lose on average 10 points . and is not like the x/4flush is les valuable, is still pretty strong on both streets on the next draw you can direct the middle to a flush or straight draw some times and that is nice.
Mathematically impossible to prove the best way yet nobody can.
Logic and practice are the only tools available and some rough %math with no much regard for strategy.

I think you're probably right.....so nice to have a good solid foundation in back so you can build your hand safely. It allows you to take a little more risk with the middle and top rows.

I think I used to overbreak four flushes for pairs in the middle. Now I usually only do it with AA or KK though having three to a sfd would also sway me often. Each situation is a bit different, if I come up with a close one anytime soon I'll post in this thread.
