big live tourney coming up, profitable?

Hey everyone/anyone im thinking about playing in two tournaments out of town this month $440 b.i and the main event $1100 b.i. both 20,000 starting chips and the 440 is 15 min blinds and the main event is 45 min blinds. Both limited to 60 players with standard 10%rake i think

For everything estimate cost is around $2300.
Is this a profitable decision for an online 6max cash reg playing 9 handed tourney. I always find myself having to play tight alot and being frustrated at seeing 25 hands an hour when it comes to live full ring.
And/Or if anyone could link me to any recomendations for live full ring would be awesome thanks :). Noting that it will be full of casino fish regs

Hey Kiwi,

If you play for the money, I think your bankrollmanagment is your real concern. An agresive bankrollmanagement is 100 buy ins. So if you want to play a 1000$ tounament you should have 100.000$ to your disposal. but more common and wise is 150 or even 200 BI

Its another story if you play those tournaments for fun. Then you play with the money you have spare.

Also, If you do it for the money, you should ad the "life" rake aka hotel, transportation, diners etc. those can add up considerabel and make even soft games a loozing proposition.

Thanks for input herpes :). Whats your opinion on taking shots at these events though if your edge is significantly big. I dont think anyone would specificaly wait to gain 100k before playing in a $1100 tournament.

Yes its profitable. Not necessarily in a strict EV sense necessarily (although it may be that too, because live poker is soft). But its a profitable decision to take a shot, because you are a poker player. Go for it. You will gain experience and if you focus, will learn a lot about live poker...and you might win.

thanks for input, I decided to fly out for one day to just play the $1100 main event.
