10 Man Double Ups

I have been playing SNGs for about 2 years now but because I live in the US i am limited to playing on merge. I used to play a lot of regular format SNGs where top 3 pay but on merge it is hard to get a decent amount of games running ( I like to play 8-12 tables) and because the double ups start much faster I have decided to try and play those instead of regular. I was a winning player at 9 and the double ups seem to be going well so far with an ROI of about 4% playing $2 and $3 through about 500 games. Obviously this could be better but I am happy with the way it has been going. I playing these in early November and look to be playing $5 by January and $10 by spring time. Anyone interested in talking strategy or have any thoughts or questions feel free to post away! Thanks.

I normally stick to the standard SnG's but have played plenty of the double ups as well. I have found my ROI is actually lower on these than the standards due to the fact that players (correctly) tighten way up on the bubble. It oftens becomes a crap shoot on the bubble if the remaining players all have similiar sized stacks. The rake is more of a factor on these even though it is usually about 1/2 of what it is on the standard SnG's. Being you are only getting paid 2x your buy in, you need to win 51% of all games you play to show a profit and that doesn't even take the rake into consideration. These games are extremly fishy, even more so than the standards and they fill up quicker too, but bad beats are more of an issue since busting out of 1 means you have to cash in 2 more just to show a profit. If you do play these (and they are fun), I would recommend to study double up strategy exclusively because when it comes bubble time (6 players left) there will be situations where folding AA preflop is correct. You need to reconize the spots to shove wide and to fold tight (AK, QQ+) preflop. The best advise for these games to to "outlast not outplay" your opponents. Good luck!

yeah I used to play a lot of the regular sytle SNGs but I have been playing mostly double ups because I like to 10-12 table and these start up way faster than the other games. On merge for double ups the break even point is a 55% win rate currently I am at 57% showing a small profit and making most of my money off of rake back. If anyone knows of a good place to read up on strategy strictly for double ups I would greatly appreciate it.

What would you like to know?

I've played at least 5k of Double ups, probably >10k. A lot of them on Carbon, Titan, Party (20% ROI ftw) and on Bodog when they still had them.
Played them again about a year ago and it went terribly.

I quit because they don't make you a better player.
No HUD, little skill and pretty nitty, but they were easy to beat.
