Villain is one tabling and from Brazil, but only have a full 2 hands from him
Preflop
($0.15)
Hero is BB with

he makes it quite large, especially since potential fish 4bet usually on the smaller side, but i think 3bet/folding JJ makes no sense
Flop

on the flop i basically thought about everything. x/c, x/f, x/jam. it sucks, that he makes it so big. i thought that given we have the Js, it makes more sense to put it in the x/c range and to jam all other QQ/JJ without spades?

turn is close, but i think we are not yet commited. if we fold, we might be overfolding, but to go broke for 170bb with a JJ overpair seemed overplayed for me. plus, even though we have very few Tx, only 25% T9s or something, for potential fish the T can look like a scarecard for his overs. since he still shows aggression, I don't think we have a profitable call. but I might be wrong on every street :D
Final Pot
CO wins $16.05
Rake is $0.76

Pre is played alright, we still calling vs big size because it is 170bb deep. But I'd be carefull playing postflop even before seeing flop.
Postflop first, we are not x/jamming our weak overpair here, need villian to be bet folding which I'm not sure he is ever doing,or calling worse (not sure too). To be honest it is hard to see AK playing this way, but it can happen. About calling flop isn't nice in my opinion, we still will play guessing game on any turn.
So maybe i'd just mucking flop and calling having more outs (like JT, T9).
Turn probably brick for fish, and he still betting KK and AA because he doesnt know what else he can do and scared of flushes. If I call flop I would fold without knowing that villain spazzy or over agressive
understand the way u played it. it seems like the best play is to fold flop. if the only information we have is that he is 1 tabling.
Given everything discussed, is there any merit to folding preflop to the 4Bet?
I may be in the minority there, since no one has brought that up, but I am curious to hear other opinions on this.
I think I agree that, as played, with the large flop bet, folding flop is probably our best option.
I definitely agree with you, yes we're deep but his 4b is HUGE
I clearly don't wanna set mine at this price and I clearly don't feel my jacks to be alive right now.
I'm happy to fold in this spot.
You're not supposed to fold on that turn given the flop... but as we didn't hit our set it's clearly a fold to me
i might be wrong with this, but since he is a one-tabler, i add to his range like a 10-20% completely random part. by this i mean hands, that we would never (rationally) put in his range, but which he might still play like that. so in practice I imagine he has some hands in his range like A8o or whatever, which he 4bets, because it is his favourite hand / his girlfriend is standing behind him and he wants to impress her / he is tilted, because he got 3bet 4 times in a row etc. etc.
vs a reg i would prolly fold exploitative pre
Mayby its our 3b that is almost 5x thats the issue this hand go's out of line so quick
In that case villian's 4b range is tighter ( JJ / AK + ). But then again where playing NL10 where he also could overplay his AQ or 1010
Overall we could go either way depended on what hero think about villian's range.
i am very certain, that the size is completely fine. OOP we should never 3bet less than 4x and given that we are 170bb deep, we have to adjust our 3bet size even more.
iam fine with it.
u take the strategy to make a strong 3b. give him some fold equity and tighten his calling range + 4b range. but yet u decide to call big 4b + call big cb as if he has a wide 4b range.
Why are we calling preflop if we fold on a flop like that ? Makes no sense to me would love someone explaining it to me. Thank you
1st we did not fold on the flop, 2nd the texture of a flop does not only determine our play, but also betsizing, timing, board development etc.
Yea i know we didnt fold but alot of ppl suggested IT.
