Why do we need a balanced flop c/r range?
What advantage do we gain over strong opposition when we c/raise? If our opponent plays optimally, we extract the same amount of value using a c/c c/c c/r line that we would from check raising the flop. And when we c/r the flop, we have to take some nutted hands away from our calling range, allowing our opponent to bet the river for larger amounts more often which means that the value of our bluff catchers goes down with every flop c/r we make.
Well, you say, our c/r bluffs should make money. Again let's assume optimal opposition. He will make our bluffs worth zero by definition.
Well how else can we make money that we couldn't have made by checkraising the river instead of the flop? When our opponent bet/folds hands that have equity against our range.
So my question is what hands could our opponent profitably bet if we never checkraised the flop that he could not profitably bet when he was against a balanced flop c/r range and does this value offset our river disadvantage?
