Was my value bet too thin here?

SB is vpip/pfr:18/7 in 29 hands
Flop ($0.68) 8 9 5
SB bets $0.33, Hero calls $0.33, CO folds
Turn ($1.34) 8 9 5 J
SB bets $0.65, Hero calls $0.65
River ($2.64) 8 9 5 J 6
SB checks, Hero bets $1.18 and is all in, SB calls $0.80 and is all in

What hands do you think he raises preflop? I gave him that range: QQ+,AKs,J9s+,T9s,98s,87s,76s,65s,54s

When was in the river I thought that he might have raised AJs preflop and I could get value from that. But after the hand I did some analysis in equilab and I think that this is too wide imo from sb. What do you guys think? How you'd play here?
