Calling is just not going to work out well in high rake environments.

Fold pre.

If you have some sort of read that pool/player folds too much to 3b 44/33/22 might sneak into my 3b range at a low frequency here. There are 18 combos of 22-44, so pulling 2 or 3 of them and mixing in a 3b will be perfectly fine if we dump a few of the more merged 3b from our range. Low sets are soooooooo robust here on high/high/low, high/middling/low, high paired/low. If I was using an RNG, I would likely only do it if I rolled a 10 or lower. If I was using suits, I would have one particular combo I use (like heart/spade). We 3b 2h2s, 3h3s and 4h4s and fold the rest.

You can also take it one step further and investigate how often they check/fold flop.

I would want to have a good grasp on both of those numbers (both vs play and vs pool) if I was going to decide to 3b vs pure fold here with 33 preflop.
