Trying to build my PF ranges - CO
I am trying to build some solid basic ranges for 6max NL10 CG.. By basic I mean I want to have some starting point and make those ranges wider or thinner depending on action, dynamics, stacks and villain(s).
Is this one ok ? Is there something you really dislike ? If so why ? Thank you very much :)
Any color = open raise
Orange = + flat
Red = + 3bet

RFI range looks way too loose imo. I'd much rather open more suited cards, as opposed to stuff like weak AXo, K7o etc. I mean, you want to open almost 40% with this range, which is just too much in my opinion. I'd stick to ~30%, and throw in more SC/S1G/KXs/QXs as opposed to those offsuit combos.
Ok thx for opinion. Jist to be sure - are we talking 6max not fullring ?
Oh and this is only vs EP or MP.
Btw orange is more like brown on the picture :D
I would remove the weak ax and kx off suit hands. Still 3players left to act and if your CO range is too lose ppl will start 3betting the hell out of you.
I'm honestly asking: does anybody else think that this is a waste of time for nl10 reg? I think that your time is MUCH better spent just playing and thinking about postflop decisions. Any preflop decision is gonna be extremely marginal anyway and its not like anyone is gonna exploit if you get too out of line. I just think that this type of work is attractive, because its easy and looks useful, even though its not.
I might be completely wrong. Im really not sure and Im actually curious.
i think you are right sir
Most of my time IS spend by playing and doing handhistories (discussion over forums) and ranges (Flopzilla). But good you pointed it out. Its good to know it is the way.
Its not like I want to find out some top notch balanced ranges. I just want to have some basic point for my pf so I know from what towards what am I gonna adjust depending on situationand I was curius wjat others play and what are there opinions :)
Again thx for the point since it is (most prolly) better to work on other things and be playing. I dont spent some crazy amount of time with this.
You are right but preflop decisions are easy to standardize and therefore trivial to follow.
While I'm still not a big fan of constructing 'perfect' ranges and learning them by heart (which used to be the case for me too), it's still good to have something as a starting point. It can also help create a feeling of control of one's game, which is especially good when not running that well. I think it's far more important to understand why we're choosing to play a certain hand (range), rather than just sticking to some chart you found online or w/e.
Absolutely not imo
If you can learn how to be solid pre then postflop will be a lot easier and you should move up quicker
Also you will improve loads if you can figure out good ranges and reasons why certain hands are good/bad for opening, calling 3bets with etc
If you just play then you will keep making the same mistakes and train your brain to do bad stuff automatically
Well, you know I'm a preflop addict. :-)
So I think It is not wasted timed.
Actually I found serious leaks when I last time checked my HM2 database. I overfolded on the BTN vs. the 3bet of blinds. You can see more on this in my blog.
Actually, I watch PG videos here and he says repeatedly "players overfold on these stakes". So yeah, I believe we all have serious problems with preflop ranges on these stakes.
dissection:
you can check my sheet in micro section. Even I can send you by email.
I am interested ! But even more in arguments for the composition of your sheet(s). Let's dicuss it in your blog ? (link?)
Thx :)
