Tough river spot with top pair top kicker, or easy fold?
Hey Everyone,
I'm a fairly unexperienced cash game player, trying to take learning and studying the game a bit more serious. This is my first ever post as i'm a new member of RIO. I ld love to hear some thoughts on the hand below. To save you some time watching the tank, I ended up folding the river to a half pot bet. My reasoning is that nearly all of his continuuing range after calling 3bet PF would have gotten there by the river. I feel like at best we chop the pot if i call, but maybe i'm missing something.

I want to learn, so please don't go easy on me.

Agree on folding...
What hands do we expect villain to turn into a bluff here? I doubt that AJ/AQ get bluffed here even close to often enough to justify a call OTR.
Any reason for buying in at 80BB?
They are deep. It's .02/.05.
Agree 100% with you,
Thanks for the quick reply! 5NL indeed.
As played, it is probably fine. That is a very bad runout.
I think I prefer the c bet line. Still have range advantage in the overpair+ range and the gutters have high equity against us.
Thanks for the quick reply. I did C-bet quarter pot. Or do you mean something else with the 'C-bet line'?
Yeah, I was thinking out loud in between check and bet, I prefer the c bet even though I hate that board.
Wp mate.
Seems fine, bad runout and fine fold. I would c-bet flop larger though, its a pretty wet board and V will call with alot of pair + draw type hands (which all got there by the river)
GG wp, i think you played it great. I would just fold river quicker ;)
Like RaoulFlush said, what do we expect him to bluff here? He basically need to play every AQ combo like that+AJs, and turn into bluff every single time otr to come up with enough bluffs. Very easy for him to have TK,TQ,TT,JT, ATs,9Ts- it's alot of valuecombos he always will play this way.
In best case we breakeven if he somehow turns everything into a bluff and float enough, in more likely case its very bad to call.
