The Pseudo-Clairvoyant Nemesis

Suppose you routinely cap your turn calling range at hand strength Y.  Suppose I know this but I do not know your river calling frequencies (assuming the river does not change the equities).  Is the maximally exploitive strategy to start over-betting all hands better than Y and incorporate bluffs with the appropriate frequencies?

"Maximally exploitive" is a bit misleading here since it assumes full knowledge of your strat, but if you designed a computer to play the nemesis strategy against all data it was given and you only gave it the data above, is that what it would do?

Yes, for a large part it would do that, where the frequencies depend on card removal effects.

But it is still possible that it also involves smaller bets with hands that beat all of your hands, due to card removal effects and the fact that hands below Y could still be bet for value (otherwise he would cap his hand strength also).

For instance on Jh6h4hQsKd he might make a small bet with AhKh instead of an overbet if your hand strength is capped at king high flushes.

Thanks guys.

Game Theory,

I thought about that but it seems that if the best hand you had was Y with 100% certainty then it would never bet any hands less than Y for anything less than very large, and it would bet some hands less than Y for value as well and those would be the smaller bets.

If 10% of your range is the 3rd nuts and 90% of your range is the 5th nuts, then you can still bet the 4th nuts for 2x pot. Of course then you must also bluff some hands, for instance 3rd nutsblockers!
