take showdown or start bluffing?

BB 53/30 - 17 hands

UTG 22/18/cbet 68/chk raise 7/wtsd 23/wwsf 42 - 3k hands

Such a strange line from villain and i feel like we have a decent amount of sdv here but maybe im wrong about that and villain will show up wtih 88 too much?

22$ on turn and jam river seems like a nice option because we only get called by weirdly played sets and we are blocking 22.

thoughts?

SB: $196.61
BB: $70.33
UTG: $101.88
CO: $133.93
Hero (BTN): $100.00

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is BTN with Ac 2c
UTG raises to $3, 1 fold, Hero calls $3, 1 fold, BB calls $2

Flop: ($9.50) 6h Kh 2s (3 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $6.00, BB folds, UTG raises to $16.75, Hero calls $10.75

Turn: ($43.00) 4h (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero?

I don't like preflop call, at all. As played, I'd probably fold after his c/r. To me it looks like he has a set, pretty low c/r % and he decided to pot control.. It's a weird line from him indeed, but I would not bluff here, don't think we have enough FE. Maybe bet turn and OB river if the board doesn't pair would work.

I like 3Bing or folding preflop, depends on villain RFi utg, Fv3B and 4B stats - as played though i certainly bet this flop b/c its keeps my range uncapped and we can barrel clubs and any card T+ to try and fold out his mid pairs or maybe A6 or some crap that he CCs flop with. As played i would expect him to have a set here a decent amount after flop CR line, i always fold flop here and take a note b/c we're crushed, but since you call flop and he chks turn (where he should be value betting) it turns his range kinda face up - its kinda sick line but your range has some flushes in it for sure, and his check indicates he is scared of them! while his range has basically none now so i would rep a flush by betting turn and shipping any non board pair riv.

Ah actually having 2nd thoughts on this... the problem with this line is that your only 100bb deep with 43$ ott, it makes it hard to leave a lrg bet otr, if you bet less than 24 ott its gonna seem fishy b/c you should be value betting flushes larger, and with a pot of so large otr it takes a pretty good hand reader to fold getting such great pot odds otr with top / middle set, they'll just say to themselves "ah he can be value betting worse i call"

i feel like the preflop police in these forums because every post i want to say fold preflop :)

fold preflop with A2s vs on BUTvUTG or 3B bluff if you think UTG is expanding his range due to fish in BB

i would also fold the flop (this is not like calling the BBvBUT check raise because i have the blockers - in this case he opened UTG)

as played i don't' really know except to say if you bet the turn i think you need to also bet the river pretty often

you guys dont flat A2-A5s otb when theres a fish in the BB?

Also i dont think this is a set as often as you guys are making it out to be. I hardly ever see regs check a set on this board with a fish still to act and if he did for some reason check then i think he would raise bigger. It seems like a bet thats designed to make me fold my air or something.

Also if we think villains range is only sets then i would never advocate trying to bluff turn and river because hes simply never folding.

i ended up checking down and villain had QQ, what notes/adjustments/assumptions should we be making about villain?

Your hand was a weak bluff catcher at most. If you're continuing because you think villain is trying to make you fold air or defend a hand that could have been outflopped, you should turn your hand into a bluff and bet strong turn and river. I think this is the only line I would take instead of folding pre and esp OTF.
