Strategies for start studying
Hi! beginner player here
I just started watching From the Ground Up (and actively taking notes, researching those same topics on the internet, etc...) and although I find very helpful all the examples given there, I realised I need more feedback regarding the application of those concepts (i.e practical excercises to really internalize concepts). Basically, I'd aprreciate some guidance on these topics:
• Which actual deliberate practice/strategies for beginners you recommend in order to learn how to apply concepts of NLHE?
• Is there any group study for beginners I could join that can help me raise awareness of what are relevant topics/ factors to take into account when studying? (how to study, what kind and level of discussions should I aim to have). Something that gives me structure and autonomy to start building a good foundation of the game.
• Some other valuable threads that you consider relevant for me regarding deliberate practice in poker.
• A learning path of RIO videos aimed to better understand and apply concepts.
Thanks in advance!

I'm no pro but how i've been improving is trying to implement something specific each time until I become very good at it and move to the next thing. I haven't watched from the groun up but I think it should have chapters with fundamentals. so like read a chapter say, opening ranges and for a week play and focus on that, don't pay any attention to post flop. maybe even fold every hand until you get the ranges right. next focus on calling ranges, and finaly 3bettig ranges. you can actually leran these without even playing actually, just memorize them . next move to the next chapter, which might be cbetting. take notes on what boards are good to cbet and other otes you find hepfull. then practise that and mark hands for review everyday. by the end of the week look at yout progress and if you're ready to move into the next fundamental, and so on and so forth..
when i started i went ahead and read through grinder's manual 30 minutes every day and played everyday. it kind of helped but i wasn't really focused so I didn't improve too much. lately I'm trying to focus on specific things and not move on until I feel I have improved a lot on that and I've made huge progress.
I'd suggest reading sky matsuhatsi's "how to study poker". It goes into detail on how to study, similar to what I said already.
Good luck
Thanks, gonna take a look to the book!
I'm pretty sure the author of the grinder's manual is the same who did the form the ground up videos (peter clarke). so maybe it's more or less kind of the same content and not wrth it if you alrady have the from the ground up video courses
