Still Feeling Fishy

I played online poker a lot from 2007 to 2009 and began building a decent bankroll. Stepped away for a while and paid off bills with my earnings. Now back in the game I am excelling on how I expected to. My MTT play is becoming much more disciplined and I am cashing a lot more tourneys. Then I set down in cash games and within an hour I have givin away 2k. Can someone help me understand the different mindset for cash games.

Honestly, it just comes down to the competition being much, much weaker in tournaments in general. This might be inherently due to the fact that tournament play is largely based on 20-30bb stacks so there's far more variance and less postflop play (which equates to skill, imo) compared to 100bb+ cash games. There's also a lot more fish chasing the big grand prize that tournaments offer.

Cash games is a whole other beast.

If you are winning by playing tournament you can't expect to win at cash games too because game is very different and cash is harder.

Cash games require high postflop skill.

Tournaments require more discipline, BRM, mindset etc...

two different strategies.

start at the beginning with learning the fundamentals. depending on the size of your roll, start out at 10nl to 25nl.
