Sizing otf in 3b pots on middling cards
Hello everyone,
I lately noticed that when I 3bet (specifically in wider range spots, either IP as BTN vs CO or OOP as SB/BB vs BTN) and the board comes something along the lines of T65ss/ T97ss and I'm sitting there with the overpair part of my range I am not quite sure how to play it with regards to sizing. Usually vs weaker players I tend to size up and go for value but when I face regs I find myself against very strong ranges when I size up and not really liking any action/turn cards with a low SPR vs competent players.
Lately I've been reading Janda's NLHE For advanced players and his chapter on having different sizing in single raised pots was really an eye opener for me, it's a concept I was aware of but he brought it down really clearly.
So it got me thinking, can I use the same logic easily in 3bet pots? Something along the lines of "This is a board that hits the caller harder than me as he will have more sets and strong draws and I have mostly overpairs and bluffs, I will probably cbet here with a high frequency so I can size down and bet 25%-33%pot (btw what are pros/cons for each?)"
And if that is indeed the case, does this mean I will not have a high sizing with my range ? Also, when I bet this small, how do I rationalize giving villain a good price on his draws , is it because I am giving a good price to a wide range so I can continue to bet small OTT or alternatively overbet ?
How do diff pairs/ blockers differ here?
This is pretty much where I am.
Would love feedback,
Thanks
