Seriously outleveled at 50NL?

CO: $0
BN: $82.38
SB: $151.55
BB: $103.26 (Hero)
UTG: $50.69
LJ: $78.77
HJ: $345.60
Villain is a 22/19/8 with AFq of 4.4
Lot of history together and I feel like he is outplaying me on a long run with his experience and aggression.
Preflop ($0.75) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt A A
UTG folds, LJ folds, HJ folds, BN raises to $1, SB calls $0.75, Hero raises to $4, BN calls $3.50, SB folds
Flop ($10.00) 8 4 K (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $6.50, Hero raises to $15.50, BN calls $9
Turn ($41.00) 9 (2 Players)
Hero bets $19, BN raises to $38, CO folds, Hero folds
IMO, I played it like AK and as him being a good reg, he picked up on that and tried to get me off the hand.
It`s just such a strong line. At that moment I immediately put him on 88 as I don`t think he would play AK that way, hence, I fold.
Final Pot
BN wins $95
An hour later, a different hand came up with the same reg. I had the previous hand still in mind (figuring out whether I outleveled myself or he did really catch that set) and that lead to spewing off some chips.

Seat 2: ( $168.98 USD )

Dealt to Hero [ Ad Qh ]

folds
meluckybstrd raises [$1.50 USD]
folds
folds
folds
Villain calls [$1 USD]

** Dealing Flop ** [ As, 9h, 7h ]
Villain checks
Hero bets [$2 USD]
Villain raises [$7 USD]
Hero calls [$5 USD]

At this point I was thinking "He is trying to outplay me again. No way, man, I`m not going anywhere unless the board gets really ugly". My ego took over me there.

** Dealing Turn ** [ Ts ]
McThai bets [$12 USD]
meluckybstrd calls [$12 USD]

** Dealing River ** [ 2c ]
McThai bets [$22 USD]
meluckybstrd calls [$22 USD]
McThai shows [ 9c, 9d ]three of a kind, Nines.

I felt disgusted and outplayed like a kid. After the hand I closed down my session and finished breakeven with these 2 hands being the biggest $ losers.
Any thoughts on how to avoid these tough mental spots? Or am I just outleveling myself or thinking too much into details?
