villain is 38/28/1.5.

is my line totally standard, or ought the notion of 'pot control' apply here? [ie, should i be settling for two streets of value?]

once i get chk+raised on the river, theres just not much money left, so i do feel obligated to call.

thoughts?

5x on the BTN is way too much. 3x maximum, unless you have very specific reads.

You played it fine, up until the river. You have to bet-fold. And if you don't fold, you definitely shouldn't be shoving.

Yeah, bf river sounds right.   Betting all 3 streets is good.  Notice that there is not too much villain would want to turn into a river bluff here assuming it's in his repertoire, so folding the river looks good.

He will usually show up with 55.

87 probably calls the river because of the paired board, plus flus draw.

66 has quads and JJ probably 3-bets (although they might flat to your huge open).

I'd fold the river.   We are just never good here. The only viable draw, 78, got there, as did backdoor flush draws.  His line looks like trip sixes or JdXd.

I don't mind the 5X pre-flop here.  You're in position and you want to maximize your value on all 3 streets.

i dont know why the hand history shows that 'hero raises to $14.80' on the river; all i did was call for the remainder of my stack, which was less than the amount of villains min-raise.

and that being the case .. i dont think you folks realize that im getting a price of 109.6:14.8 .. which means my call has to be good 11.9% of the time to break even. harrington writes theres always at least a 10% chance that someone is bluffing, and id like to believe that theres at least a 1.9% chance that someone at NL50 thinks that AJ == AA on this board.

as for raising 5x pre, my understanding is that 4x + 1x BB per limper is pretty standard.

but i was really wondering if i should have checked turn. consensus seems to be that bet, bet, bet is the right line to take.

You should definitely bet turn.  The 6 essentially doesn't change the board, and you were way ahead villain's range on the flop, and the same on the turn.  The line is definitely bet, bet, bet pretty much most of the time on the river.  I apologize for not seeing your call equity on the river.  With 11.9%, it's a call.

Preflop sizing is a touch big and I d make it 4x. If other regulars are picking up on what I m doing and 3 betting a bunch I ll start isolating 3x.

Flop is good. Bet 11$ instead of 10$ OTT. Then shove river. As played I think you gotta fold to the c/r. Villain just is never bluffing so I don t think you have the 12% equity you need. If you insist on calling the c/r I prefer shoving 38$ into the 34$. Its not a huge overbet.

hand played fine you say not much behind when you call c/r if thats the case if were betting here i like an jam rather than current size.
