Very std hand and it feels kinda dumb to play a reasonably good A high like this. Is this still good or are there better ways to play this vs unknown, maybe by checking the flop or not folding the turn?

I'd just check-fold the flop. It seems at the bottom of your 3-betting range and you don't have any backdoors.
It is a dry board. If you only check/fold, is not fold preflop better? In which situations you bet at flop?
Flat or fold pre, you have so much reverse implieds with your pair outs Vs a UTG range. You said he is unknown so no reason to think he is super loose. If you see he is clearly a whale then yeah 3betting is fine.
That's not enough of a reason to 3bet AJo here. Fold pre vs unknown.
