The only decision that wasn't easy in the hand imo. At first I was thinking I should fold anything less than a 2 but my bet looks a lot like what it is - a thin value bet with AQ or something so i might've induced a bluff with my sizing.

j2ps305522 wins $0.00 Anom1c wins $47.74

Opinions on the thin vbet and the call? I don't think villain has many 8x

I'd b/f ott vs unknown. I know that he shouldnt have any 8x in his range, but you cant really rule them out

as played def snap xb otr

I don't really understand the point of the river bet, what do we get value from that we beat? Villain can have a decent amount of 8x in his range, even with the flat on the flop. He can also have hands like 99, TT, JJ (as seen), KQhh. But when we have the Ace of spades and he checks to us on the river, there's no reason why we can't have a flush so I think that the only hands calling would be 8x who are now sad or lower flushes. When x/raised I don't see how we can do anything but call. But I am also very much an amateur player.

He called an open in the SB. The only 8s he should have here are 98dd/98cc. T8s, 87s would be a bit loose and work better as a 3b or fold in polarized SB 3b range.

Him not checkraising flop makes it even less likely he has an 8. It also doesn't make sense to just minraise turn because trips need protection and no FD is folding to that sizing.

I think I might get called by a queen or some lower pair once in a while. That's why I bet

Check-minraise OTT indicates that villain is a recreational player, in which case he has plenty of 8x in his range. I am bet-folding the turn also.

I think calling the min-raise on the turn is fine getting 5:1 but I agree that this river is an easy xb.

As played, I'm definitely folding to the River x/r.

What does he ever have on the river that beats us? I don't think he is ever check/raising an 8 on the river, he's either bet/folding or check/calling. And I think the same goes for any flushes that he may have except like KJss.We're getting better than 2:1 on the river call, I don't think he has his value hands here nearly enough for us to fold.

Why is V bet/folding or check/calling an 8? He would only loose to QQ, 22, or Q8. I think most people with an 8 here are just getting the money in.

Tdogger88 9 years, 5 months ago

Even so, the easiest way to get the money in is to bet/call or bet/shove. Him checking to induce a bet with an 8 doesn't make much sense to me when it's so easy for us to check back that river when ti comes up a spade.
