NL25 - Squeezed AK, can we ever win on this board?

Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 (6 Players) SB: $25.35 (Hero)
BB: $46.99
UTG: $35.05
MP: $44.60
CO: $18.31
BN: $18.75
Preflop ($0.35) Hero is SB with A K
UTG raises to $0.75, 2 folds, BN calls $0.75, Hero raises to $3.50, BB folds, UTG calls $2.75, BN folds
Flop ($8.00) 8 7 5
Hero checks, UTG checks
Turn ($8.00) 8 7 5 T
Hero checks, UTG bets $4.00, Hero folds
Final Pot UTG wins $7.56
Rake is $0.44

OR is a reg while BTN is a whale.
I expect UTG to have all the set given the fact the whale will come along often.

Once we check twice I think villain can rule out any good hand from our range so he had a very safe stab even with 2 napkins.
The flop, and the turn, is perceived to me as very bad and I don't my strategy contain any bet frequency.
Is this a leak?

I found myself often in this spot and I would call his 1/2 thinking I'm still ahead of his draws and he might check back some draws that miss. I think we should x twice with strong hands and if we do that we wont feel exploited.

they should have a reasonably high stab freq on the flop given the board is reasonably favorable for them once you check and you'll have a lot of high card hands that need to check fold and they have a condensed range that needs protection...having the Ad is pretty nice blocking ATdd which is likely a reasonable freq check...they're supposed to stab a lot of Tx combos on the flop imo but not sure how often population will do that...given the sizing and we need to have some defense freq vs this bet then this seems like a fine combo to mix in a call with having 2 overs and a reasonable blocker to ATdd...

Are we vulnerable to pretty much any river? Even an A or a K could let us reverse pretty easily.
Is better to have other things in our defense range, like a draw with robust equity?

ran a sim and this hand doesn't make it into a turn x/c range but hero needs to make sure they protect their range and check a lot of strong hands that can combat turn stabs from IP

Why aren't we cbetting this board? We're basically putting our hand face up. Our range looks like TT-AA, AK, AQs. All the pocket pairs CB the flop. We'll get a bunch of folds on the flop. The UTG range probably contains all pocket pairs, some suited aces, suited broadways. We also have quite a lot of equity when an A or K comes. We can barrel a lot of overcards too.

I don't think we would get enough flop folds.
OR could easily have all pairs, strong draws and some traps.
If we cbet the flop we make his range even stronger and we are ending up guessing OTT.
I don't user solvers, so my understanding of the spot could, and probably be, totally off

For sure a close spot. You can just randomize call and fold. You need to have some Ax and Kx Xc on turn otherwise V gets to bet A/K rivers too thinly.
