NL25: bet, chk, bet with T9 on 92xx2 rb

Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 (6 Players) BN: $30.69
SB: $25.99
BB: $2.51
UTG: $25.00 (Hero)
MP: $54.48
CO: $48.40
villain 22/15 over 25 hands
Preflop ($0.35) Hero is UTG with T 9
Hero raises to $0.75, MP calls $0.75, 4 folds
Flop ($1.85) 9 3 2
Hero bets $1.20, MP calls $1.20
I wasn't 100% sure if c/c is better, especially given that A9s probably is the only other suited 9x in my range but still felt like without a backdoor and an overcard, this needs more protection and more incentive to collect a street from underpairs asap.
Turn ($4.25) 9 3 2 7
Hero checks, MP checks
Here I decided to go for a c/c given that 66-44 likely just folds now and 77 improved. Not super happy about it since a player with these stats probably won't float/stab that often but it still seems too strong to c/f.
River ($4.25) 9 3 2 7 2
Hero bets $2.90, MP raises to $8.50, Hero folds
Now I went for the thin valubet vs 88, 66-44 figuring he wouldn't turn many hands into a bluff and doesn't have many floats in his range. For this reason I'm also reasonably happy with my line but am interested in how we should abuse this spot in his shoes. Would you turn the hands mention into bluffs? Do you show up with worse than 3x?
Final Pot MP wins $9.60
Rake is $0.45
