NL25: 2 pairs - shove on turn?

Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 (3 Players) SB: $44.10 (Hero)
BB: $27.22
BN: $34.43
Preflop ($0.35) Hero is SB with 3 5
BN raises to $0.50, Hero raises to $1.50, BB folds, BN calls $1.00
Flop ($3.25) J 3 9
Hero checks, BN bets $1.75, Hero calls $1.75
Turn ($6.75) J 3 9 5
Hero checks, BN bets $4.20, Hero raises to $9.51, BN calls $5.31
Shouldn't I just go all-in here instead of raising?

That would be quite an overbet. The problem is you're repping very strong and villain might not be to happy to look you up with worse. Bottom two pair on this board basically = KK-AA, which you are representing. The good news is a fish will still look you up with Jx+ or even A9 and your play is so weird, that some TAGs might get suspicious and call, as it really looks like you have AKdd...

So I don't hate your play, but I don't love it either. I'd prefer checking and calling down with perfect bluffcatcher, that also beats tons of value.

But what the hell were you doing pre? Tiny 3b OOP with trash just invites trouble. Flop is also questionable. You really think you'll get to showdown enough on this board to justify calling?

PF: Honestly I just wanted some action normally I don't play suited connectors OOP but I wanted to give it a go lol

I really don't think the hand is strong enough for showdown PF or on flop, the hand should have been folded PF I guess :D

Do you think checking with a vulnerable 2 pair is going to be good when villain could check back and realize his 25-35% equity?

"action" is the last thing you should want when playing this hand.

Also, I dont like 3B this hand from SB and feel it works much better as a part of a polarized BB v BU strat.

3B a bit larger OOP

X/F flop. Your hand doesn't work as a CB and you practically can never barrel turns, and keep in mind how often V will bet vs missed CB on this flop and if you call how often will you be able to call a later street unimproved?

With BDFD CB would be ok.

Master_debater, if you think this hands it too weak to cbet in this 3bet pot, then I would like to see what your cbetting range in this spot is. My guess would be you 3bet cbet % is lacking severely and thats very exploitable.

If you check some solver solutions to see what they suggest in this spot, you'll most likely find its a 100% cbet spot with this hand.

Two points for preflop plan

1.go on bet slider on PS and preFix your 3bet sizes :P ( if u are on Stars)
I would size @ least 2.25$ pre...

2.Also not my favourite hand to 3bet with OOP ... i will see future with this hand on ip 3bet bvb from time to time but not with sb vs btn...

postflop

Postflop is a new world from preflop and we have to adjust to the 3 cards that came and play our hand the best...
So ... we have to ask ourselves to main questions
1.Can we force the caller to fold better hands right away on flop?
For example on this flop: did he fold 44?? prop yes
2.Can we make him pay with worse but with equity hands? ( protection)
what about KQ? prop yes

so after this long story my play will be to cbet flop ... :)

you forgot to add

3.- How much of his range will he be folding if I CB? Not much
4.- If I CB and he calls how often can I barrel a turn? Only on a 5 or a 3, so practically never. We don't even have backdoor FD.

This weighs my flop decisions towards no CB.

I think we have an easy 2 barrel for value once we get to this spot on the turn honestly. Tons of Jx and BWs with diamonds call us again.

I agree with the others that the 3bet pre is too loose, would rather have 56s

SirPlayAlot 9 years, 1 month ago

Preflop is to loose, would 3bet from 78s and up, also vs. minraise go 7-8x in the sb...

Flop our hand has 5 good outs so realization isn't too bad, also we can fold out a lot of better hands like pocket pairs under 1010 and undercards, so a Cbet is very standard here.

With a check we expose ourselves to difficult situations oop when playing in a 3bet pot, so opt to cbet more often and maybe choose a smaller sizing

Don't have to repeat pf but yeah sizings too small and not a great hand to go with unless like BB is like tight reg and BTN is like open way too much and folding to too much 3bets.

As played I think this is an easy Cbet flop. Surely we don't love this texture since it's good for villains range but can still fold many lower pairs, SC and some broadway cards.

Really don't like to x/c flop here, think I like x/r even more then and don't even like that. Some of his bluffs, overs/straight draws etc. might catch up and other than we just have to fold turn if he continues if we don't hit our 5-outer.

No reads on villain but many players, bad and somewhat "ok", might call the flop bet with overs/straight draws and then just check it down if they miss which makes me even more inclined to go with the Cbet flop and sometimes even win a showdown.

As played I I like to just call turn and reevaluate river. We're in a super gross spot if comes over the top which he can do with better, two pairs, sets or some super combo draws. Better to use this hand as a bluff catcher.
