NL200z - Puke spot with JJ OTB

Blinds: $1.00/$2.00 (6 Players) BN: $349.73 (Hero)
SB: $244.52
BB: $583.82
UTG: $743.74
MP: $409.82
CO: $279.11
Preflop ($3.00) Hero is BN with J J
3 folds, Hero raises to $4.00, SB raises to $14.00, BB raises to $35.00, Hero raises to $69.00, SB folds, BB raises to $583.82 and is all in, Hero calls $280.73 and is all in
Well here I felt so dumb for getting it in that light deep in zoom enviroment.... But both SB and BB are very aggro regs (SB 3bet 20ish%, and BB had a 6% cold 4 range (wich is pretty high in those game)...

Whats your plan here guys? Flatting the 4bet? Prob the best play... idk...

were you playing zoom poker? jacks on zoom in a three-bet pot really is kinda weak imo. would do best to flat call the 4-bet since you're in position for the hand (you do have the stack size to call and hope to hit a great flop) and if it gets 5-bet you can comfortably fold because best case scenario you're up against ak aq but hands that call you on zoom tend to beat jj a large majority of the time, regardless of how spewy

I don't think it matters really how much hes cold4betting in this spot. It's more about how he's going to react to a 5b from you and if there is any history for him to even consider getting it in flipping against JJ or worse than JJ w these stacks. We do good against his range once the cold4bet goes in but we likely get shit on once our 5b goes in and he plays back at that.

I kinda just like flatting, which looks ridiculously strong anyway and expecting both players to play straightforward as a result. It sucks that it's going to go 3way but I really don't see a better option.

Am I the only one who would fold this? The problem with calling is that SB will call very often and we're 3way and there will be an overcard pretty often and we're forced to fold decent amount postflop. SB can also 5bet if we call which really sucks for us.

Thats what I tought too... But folding seems so weak.. but its zoom.

5Bet is prob worst option tough... not sure really what to do lol.

I'm pretty sure folding is the best play. Our hand is very faceup since this is like the only hand we want to call a 4bet here, we're getting awful odds and we don't close the action. We call 31 more, we invested only 4 this far and SB will 5bet probably with AK, QQ+ and that's like 30-40% of the time. So we're putting 31 dollars in the pot AND FOLD 30-40% of the time which is awful.

I disagree with folding and this should not be "the only hand we want to call a 4bet here". We should have a range of hands that we will flat here with. Also- we are getting ~1.6- 1 to flat here. How is that awful odds when we are on the button with a top 5 hand?

If you open 60% OTB and only defend 2% (AK, KK+), either by calling or 5betting and SB is 3betting 15-20% vs BN and is defending only 2%, BB can cold 4 with ATC and print $.

Without going into detail, I would just argue that most of the defending responsibility should fall on SB. He has the stronger range having 3-bet, having put more money in, and it's very expensive for BT to defend at this point. It's SB leaking if he doesn't call 4-bets here and/or defend significantly wider than KK+,AK.

SPrince 10 years ago

He does have a stronger range but they both have to defend % collectively, as well as individually.

FriendlyCritter 10 years ago

Yes. I was just getting at that most of that responsibility falls on the SB. Not that BT should stand for half of it, and SB half of it, or something like that. Given previously mentioned factors it has to fall more on SB.
