NL200 Making a c/r river bluff

CO: $228.30
BN: $524.18
SB: $200 (Hero)
BB: $602.72
HJ: $462.90
Preflop ($3.00) (5 Players)
Hero was dealt 9 7
HJ folds, CO folds, BN folds, Hero raises to $6, BB calls $4
Flop ($13.00) A 7 6 (2 Players)
Hero bets $9, BB calls $9
Turn ($31.00) A 7 6 T (2 Players)
Hero bets $19.55, BB calls $19.55
River ($70.10) A 7 6 T 6 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BB bets $49, Hero raises to $165.05, and is all in
Villian is kind aggresive, i don´t have to many history against him yet, so i can´t figure exactly what is he able to hero fold, and what is not. I just feel that he is never too strong, he would raise every strong hand in earlier streets, may be he can have something like 68s or 69s, that would be the top of his range.

In the other side i can say that all this hands could be perfectly in my range TT,77-66,A6s,K6s,Q6s,T6s,98s,76s,A6o,K6o,98o,76o, they are 30 combinations with card removal if he has a 6. So i felt that i could add some esporadic bluffs like this, or even a fd in my range, and i will winning in the long run anyways. He need that i be actually bluffing about 13 combinactions to make an EV0 call.

What do u think about my bluff ?? Am i being too spewy ?

I like it. The only thing to consider is if your betsizing is consistent with a strong hand. Is slightly < 2/3 pot on a wet turn your normal betsizing with a strong hand (TP+)? I had made it like 24 on the turn.

Besides that I like your riverplay, unless you knew he´d never bet the river for value with Ax or bluff with busted flush draw.

I like your river play, I just think that we could take some hands out of your range like K6r 76r just because I don't think your betting either on the turn, I also think that if he has a flopped set in this spot he would never raise turn because of your perceived range, over all I like the c/r all in bluff in this spot ONLY if you think he could lay down Ax-AJ in on this river.IMO
Out of curiosity what did he call with?

That figures, kind of hard to make some body lay down tpwk at those stakes.
Like Bigfizsh posted try to size your turn bet a little bigger next time, makes your hand/range look a lot stronger.
Good luck....

People loves to make this no sense herocalls at 200nl. But if feel that is good add some bluffs to our range in this situations anyways. Image stuffs. Specially when i have a wide margin to add como bluffs into my range without being EV-.

Ty for the advise in the turn, you are all right.

Before you call them "no sense herocalls" try to think when you last took this line for value. Also, what range would you play this way and why? It's possible that you have really good answers to these questions and that you're at least somewhat balanced but it wouldn't surprise me if you don't and that you aren't.

would you be calling light against this line james? Do you think we should have a river x/raise range here? Seems pretty good of we think villain bets all Ax. Id also feel much better x/jamming a busted flush draw than 3barrelling one.
James Hudson 12 years ago
Brodyz, I don't have any problem with this line except that I don't think people take it for value very often. Bet calling A2 would probably be too light though.

i think i dont get your point James. If he is betting all his Ax, 6x and busted fd´s... I couldnt play more EV+ with a hand like A6o for example than c/jamming, are we agree in that ?
Are u trying to say that i am not taking this line for value enough ?
James Hudson 12 years ago
I think you definitely could take this line for value and it be perfectly reasonable but I'm betting most regulars aren't checking nutted hands very often on blank rivers.

What about check/calling or check raising the turn? Are those viable options? I would consider checking turn hoping to get to a cheaper showdown but if he bet then I could raise him hoping to get him to fold out better and worse hands and if I get called I still probably have good outs vs his bet/calling range.
