NL200 How to protect my c/c range?

BN: $776.41
SB: $105.03
BB: $207.42
UTG: $100
HJ: $357.71 (Hero)
CO: $504.08
Villain is 24/18 over 105 hands
Preflop ($3.00) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt 8 9
UTG folds, Hero raises to $6, CO folds, BN calls $6, SB folds, BB folds
Flop ($15.00) 8 T 7 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $10, Hero calls $10
I decide to c/c this flop since many regs assume I'm giving up on these boards.
Turn ($35.00) 8 T 7 9 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $23, Hero calls $23
We turn 2 pair but obviously there is a straight. I decide to check to let villain continue to bluff or try to rep a straight.
River ($81.00) 8 T 7 9 3 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $62, Hero calls $62
All the diamond draws missed, and at this point his bet is polarized. I block many 2 pair combinations and I'm not sure if he is capable of value betting a set here especially since we're deep and I can CR him.

Given how weakly we played the hand, and how good our hand is given our check/calling range, does this mean I have to call here?
