Action got f'ed up, he ships, I call.
a) I'm very close to the top of my range and there are barely any combos I could call if I fold here
b) There are so few combos villain can have and we can discount some of them, the way that hand played out.
Villains rfi in the SB is only 27, I guess that leaves him w even less 4x-hands. We had no relevant history for that spot.
So his valuerange consists of JJ,33,A4s and some (?) A4o-combos. ~9 combos, so he only has to have 3 combos in his bluffingrange, correct? (neglecting the fact that he could have some 4x-hands we are splitting with)

And yes, i prefer 3-b too most of the time, but he has a high 4-b% and as I said a rather low ats so it plays ok-ish IP,
I don t think you need to really worry about his 4 betting. As long as your jamming enough to make up for it you can 3 bet this kind of stuff quite a bit still. Its perhaps better then if he doesnt have a 3 bet calling range as your throwing away a hand with minimal equity.
OTR ya thats a pretty rude spot. Turn c/r tend to be really strong so I can definitely see an argument for believing him esp as he took a c/c, c/r line that suggests a trap or a mid pair kind of hand that wasnt into c betting.
