NL10z 3-bet pot: Facing double XR line with top pair

Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 (6 Players) BN: $15.06
SB: $13.54
BB: $17.04
UTG: $10.35
MP: $12.22
CO: $10.97 (Hero)
Preflop ($0.15) Hero is CO with K Q
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.25, Hero raises to $0.75, 3 folds, MP calls $0.50
Flop ($1.65) 3 2 Q
MP checks, Hero bets $0.55, MP raises to $1.94, Hero calls $1.39
Turn ($5.53) 3 2 Q J
MP checks, Hero bets $2.15, MP raises to $9.53 and is all in, Hero

I was confonted with a pretty rare double check raise line in today's session and I'm very interested in your take on it. MP played 21/17 over about 150 hands.

The Flop connects well enough with my 3-bet range while missing large parts of the middling cards that form a huge chunk of the coldcaller's range to range c-bet this board. Defending vs. the XR should be standard I guess.

On the turn MP check/shoves. In general, my approach is to avoid marginal situations and I tend to overfold these spots. However, I basically don't see how we can put MP on any value hand at all. His stats suggest that he has a somewhat reasonable RFI range, so he'll never have 33/22. I block QQ (one combination left, might have 4-bet pre) and taking this line makes no sense with AA/KK/JJ.

Basically the only hand with which this makes sense to me is flushdraws which try to exert maximum pressure. Thoughts?

Why you dont out himon 22/33 ? On nl50 a lot of players rfi and call 22/33 . Also when u bet turn u should now what to do vs XR ? I like xback brcause he can play this line AQ also ,maybe JJ .

I play the exact same stats 21/17 and I have 33/22 in my rfi range from mp with weak players in blinds, I dont call 3bets in this positions, but that doesnt mean that villan cant call so 33/22 are def in his range. I tend to pot control in this spots just because I dont know what to do when I get x/r so I would x back and look to bluff catch on blanks. As played I'm folding just because I dont see enough bluffs in the double x/r lines.

Maco's take is a good way to play it. I personally mix Maco's play with a flop 3b/fold let's say to 4.50$ in this case.

Can you detail more the 3bet/fold line? I dont see any reasons in 3betting half your stack and fold to a shove.

Achieves the same as hero line in this hand in terms of monetary loss.
My question is, how do I protect my range vs x/r on flops in 3b pots? Simple - by reraising value hands. Would do the same with Sets, top 2, or KKs or AA. so sometime I will do it as a bluff to balance.

No, you achieve nothing. 3bet/fold there with top pair is disaster. Stack to pot ratio after your reraise will be very low, he also doesnt have position so his flushdraws are even more inclined to shove instead of calling as its better to stackoff with ~35-50% equity instead of leaving half stack on table and be forced to fold to turn shove without realizing whole equity. You are also isolating yourself and folds his non hearts bluffs.

This play makes a lot more sense in single raised pots as after small reraise his flushdraws are not comfortable to stackoff with higher stack to pot ratio so you will often see call and shove only from very strong hands.
