Multiway SRP - 2 pairs on wet board

Blinds: $0.02/$0.05 (6 Players) BB: $5.00 (Hero)
UTG: $5.48
MP: $5.55
CO: $5.11
BN: $5.55
SB: $6.99
Preflop ($0.07) Hero is BB with 9 J
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.15, 2 folds, SB calls $0.13, Hero calls $0.10
Flop ($0.45) T 9 J
SB checks, Hero checks, MP bets $0.29, SB folds, Hero calls $0.29
Turn ($1.03) T 9 J Q
Hero checks, MP checks
River ($1.03) T 9 J Q Q
Hero checks, MP bets $0.66, Hero folds

Hey guys during that hand I was pretty lost so asking you for some tips.

MP seems nitty 14/12 43 hands, SB is a 66/0 rec after 33 hands

Preflop I was wondering about squeezing but I guess calling is fine too?
Few questions about sqz:
1. In general I should sqz less OOP vs early opens especially vs tight players but with a fish in a pot should I make some adjustments?
2. Do you sqz suited 1 gappers like J9s here?

Postflop:
Whats your plan for the flop hitting 2 pairs on a wet board? As played I think that after him checking a turn there is possibility to bluff river but is Q pairing board a good hand for that? I could fold better hands like Jx and overpairs.

Thanks

Sqz is allright, having weak playing OOP to you is quite nice situation to expand your sqz range
1. It is depends on 1st player. Vs tight players can't sqz too much (they have tight range so not fold enough and we will play dominating hands oop very frequently)
2. I'm not actually. Very rarely depending on situation

Don't like bluffing river too much because he is tight player, he probably folds Kx straight and overpairs(only AA) if you fire big, or can x/R if think he is capable of some folding

Hi, synkro7
About the squeeze question, it will depend on both villains.
Your combo is not great to 3bet vs an oR from MP, unless you know that villain is opening wider and folding a lot vs 3bets, you can start to 3bet wider but I would recommend a polarized range vs a high fold to 3b villain. Your combo is nice to just call and play a high SPR pot. Probably vs a CO oR we will be 3betting the J9s.

Since there is a fish between and you are OOP from MP, I'd rather just call and play a 3-way pot with a good speculative combo and a fish to my right. Note that, just like you would like to play with the fish in this pot, I believe the villain has the same desire and starts to call lighter vs your 3bet or he can 4bet slighty wider as well.

On the Flop, I'm thinking about XRaising this. You have the top two pair, this is a great board to your range and I believe villain is betting with an unbalanced range here, especially at this 5NL stakes. And I wouldn't mind to just XRF my top two because, again, most of the villains in these limits play very straight foward in these boards. But if you are afraid of playing a higher variance move, I don't mind to just check-call on good runnouts and consider a check-raise OTR. Since you went for the passive line, I don't mind to just check-fold on this bad river, there is tons of combos on his range that plays like this and is value betting better than you.

I just check my HUD and go from there really. A little pop up like this should help you make better informed decisions

Also plz keep in mind that you ar playing micros so rake is a huge deal so this could lead toward squeezing more.

Regarding postflop, I feel quite lost too. If MP is tight he could have us beat OTF or anyway have huge equity. I probably call OTF too and take it to the turn

Pre-flop - Looks good. No need to squeeze J9s here though I understand why you would if you had a good post-flop skill advantage.

Flop - Looks good. A few points to be made here;

  • He has all the nutted hands while you have very few.
  • You do not have any backdoor draws. Generally you want to be raising when your hand is likely to pick up equity on later streets. This hand is likely to lose equity vs villains range on many run-outs.
  • His sizing is large. This means he is starting to polarize. If you raise here you end up value-owning yourself too often down the line. The way I like to think about how often I should be raising in spots like this is by asking the question, "Who has more nuts in their range?" If the answer is him then you should be slow-playing more often. If he is aggro then you should be slow-playing nearly all the time.
  • Raising weakens your calling range. If you raise this hand now then he will get to bluff/thin value bet even more liberally than he already gets to as you are going to have a severely weak calling range.

River - Check looks good. Never betting this river with this hand. Once he bets you should consider all your options. What are they?

  • Fold which is always 0EV.
  • Call which is likely -EV as his range should have some flushes/straights and he is going to have a hard time finding bluffs.
  • Raise small which is likely -EV as he will have enough easy defends.
  • Raise big (~110% pot) which in many scenarios can be >=0EV.

So our options should be either fold or raise big. I tend to lean towards raise big here as you stated opponent is tight so he is likely to over-fold versus big raises. The hands we should bluff with are ones which unblock his folds and block his value calls.

We can likely get him to at least fold weak flushes here (if not all flushes depending on what the table dynamic currently is and what he thinks of you) and you unblock all the flushes. We can definitely get him to fold all straights here which you unblock. And we block him having boats [JJ, 99, QJ, Q9].

River (cont'd) Raise big.
