Meta changes 2016 -> 2018

Hi guys,

I think it's my first post over here.
I was a regular MTT player back in 2016 and micro stakes NLHE reg. I was great at MTT's and even played for a good team.
Never really beat the NLHE game, though, at that time, mostly due to tilts. I'd go crazy after bad beats and lose most or all of my BR. My BR was never ideal, too (10BI). I never had that much money to invest so that always would felt ridiculously bad after a losing session. So I quit the game and just came back this year.
Nowadays, however, my mental game is pretty strong and since I came back I have been winning every session. I am even playing one level higher than I used to (NL10z to NL25z). One thing I notice though is there is a lot more flats in position and not as many 3Bets going on. Also I have seen a lot more overbetting. Am I noticing this right? Is there anything else going on regarding range construction that is more common today?

Thank you for taking your time to read this and I look forward to read your replies!

What do you mean played in a good team? I wouldnt even dare to name 10bi's as a br, u could lose it in 1 sess, the minimum requered br for ssnl should be atleast 20-30bi's if u're beating it hard. The 3bet % in ssnl have increased from that time I would say, because people are more aware of how big of a deal is rake. Overbetting is way more common now, especially on turns. 1/3 linear cbet on flop become way more common

10 buyins is fine. It's small stakes. You can always find another 500 dollars or move down and find another 50 dollars.

Even at midstakes, the common bankroll requirements were made the nittest of professional nits. Even as a fulltime pro you could have 25 buyins and make a living. You just need to move down when you are losing. Everytime you halve the stakes your effective bankroll doubles.

This is provoking and I'm not saying your mental game hasn't improved buuuut....

how do you know your mental game is better if you didn't have a loosing session yet? :P

You don't have winning sessions because your mental game has improved - it has improved if you have loosing sessions and manage to continue playing good / quit if you notice elsewise

+1 for what kalciis said :)
So I would also be surprised if there is more flatting at the 'higher stake' (NL25 compared to NL10) and also compared from 2018 -> 2016. It's still true that many players are 3betting (and especially 4betting) more rarely than at higher stakes but it should slightly have increased over time I believe.

And overbetting has become more common especially on the turn that's true. Most likely because more people work with solvers and probably some just catch up with that strategy from observing it.

But I would suggest too if you have 10BI at NL25 to rather use that BR to grind NL10. Then you already have 25BIs and that's more the way it should be ;) I know it's hard stepping down but it might be the right thing to do here. Especially since it's not trivial beating NL25.
