Live $5/$10: Trips Line Check
Button and UTG love to limp pre. Recreational players, who play pretty straightforward and fairly bad (overvalue/pay off hands) postflop. I'd call it "stationy fit or fold". B $2500, UTG $1000, I cover and have T♦ 8♦ in BB. My image is tightest or second tightest at the table. Been card dead.
UTG limps, B limps, SB folds, I make it $60, only UTG calls. His range is quite wide, all pairs, lots of Ax, suited connectors, all paint. I've seen V shove river with JJ on Q-high board.
Flop: J♣ 8♥ 8♠ Pot $135 I figured V probably missed and cbet will just get rid of him so I check, he checks back.
Turn: K ♣ Pot $135 I bet $130, he calls.
River: 6 ♣ Pot $395

You just missed a lot of value by not cbetting here. I would cbet until i have good reason to check (vilain stab a lot R bluff, or lead Jx or draw on the flop etc)
As played you have to bet the river, like 60%ish of the pot, and fold to a raise.
i understand you chose to check the flop because V plays a fit or fold style and you don't want to lose him by c-betting. However, the range you assigned to V connects pretty well with this flop. I would think villian won't fold any PP to a single bet, he has a bunch of gutters / oesd, and many Jx combos. Also, the times he shows up with 8x you are coolering him for stacks.
Furthermore, V doesn't seem like the type to bluff this flop often when you check to him. He'll just check back with all of his air and small PPs. By checking the flop, since he'll rarely bluff with his air, you are essentially giving him infinite odds to cooler you when he checks small PPs and turns a full house.
I prefer a bet / bet / AI line here.
As played, bet $220 on the river and fold to a raise.
