Live 2/3 Thoughts on playing vs Maniac and aggressive fishes
Hey guys I've recently started playing at an extremely juicy home game and have been fairly profitable so far. They're Asian players and, what I can only assume, huge fans of Tom Dwan.
There are usually 2 kinds of players in these games
A) Aggressive Level 1 fishes
They only think of their hands go for max value by triple barreling with their top pairs on the flop, even though overcards show up on later streets
Here's example hand for you guys to have a better understanding on how aggressive they are.
It was 4 handed and I had K7s on the button and opened, SB and BB (Villain) called.
Flop 447r
SB checks, Villain donks for 3/4 pot, Hero calls, SB folds
Turn K
Villain bets for another 3/4 pot, and Hero calls
River 5
Triple barrels for another 3/4 pot and Hero calls
Villain tables 97s
Now usually I would never raise on this river against decent opponents but I'm beginning to think that thin valuing in these spots against this group of players is extremely +EV, because they ARE calling with naked top pair.
I'm still adjusting to the game as I usually play online and tbh my first session with them was entertaining as hell (Saw someone triple barrel bluff with AK, and somehow turned it into value when K high called).
Anyway these players make for the majority of the group. However I would like to talk more about the second type of player.
B) The Complete Fucking Maniac
This guy is insane. I don't even have the words to describe the crazy shit I've seen him do. From jamming 5x pot on the river as a third barrel, to having a VPIP of at least 50% and probably a 30% 3bet freq, this guy is the ultimate spewer.
Whenever he cbets it's almost always for full pot and needless to say his cbetting freq is definitely >95%. I actually get paranoid when he doesn't Cbet. I try to get into as many pots as I can with him but it really depends on my position relative to his as his 3bet SQ is so fucking high I have to fold most hands if he's seated on my left.
As you can tell from his stats, he runs zero equity bluffs all the time and my current strategy vs him HU is to limp almost a 100% of my range and back raise with premiums since he's almost always opening preflop. Postflop with my mediocre/strong holdings I pretty much x/c his barrels on most boards and when I have the nuts I only reraise on the river because I'm basically printing whenever I check to him. He's the kind of player that feels the need to win almost every pot and if you check on any street he is almost always betting.
Apart from that he's also extremely sticky. I played what could possibly have been the funniest hand I've ever played.
I 3bet him pre with T9cc in position HU and triple barreled on a 6d8c4d4c2s board and he called my shove of 180 on the river into a pot of 500 with QJss.
Yeah trust me I was speechless too. I guess I learned my lesson and you should never bluff fishes.
Anyhow thanks for reading through, just wanted to share my experience and current strategy vs these players and would like to hear your opinions on it as well to work out if there's anything more exploitable I can do to get an even bigger edge. There are also many more funny hands that I've seen, if you guys are interested I could share them but don't expect a hand analysis.
EDIT: Sorry if the formatting is horrible, my first post here and I tried to make it as readable as possible. Haven't written this much in an extremely long time.
