Live $1-2, AA line check
Hero ~ $225 in SB
Villain ~ $180 UTG
Reads: About 2 hrs worth of watching this guy, clearly a tight/passive ABC fish. My read is that he never bluffs and is just waiting for premiums or to flop big with marginals since he is also limping a lot. He's only opened 1 pot since I've been here and IIRC he showed down a premium.
Pre flop- Action:
VILLAIN opens to $10 UTG, folds to HERO in SB and I make it $25. He flats.
Pot $50
Flop: Q 10 4 rainbow.
Hero bets $18
Villain raises to $38
Hero? I think the standard is to just call, and check call turn looking for a showdown? I hate this spot since this guy is so tight, but really only worried about a set here (QQ,1010 only).
Thanks

Öhm, yea the minraise is a little bit annoying because some nits tends to do that with sets.. But anyway we are never getting away because we are still gonna have him crushed alot of the times.. I would probably just ship in game..
But when i think about it calling might be slightly more +ev.. I mean he's still gonna jam like 99% of turncards and we give him the chance to bluff (yea seems unlikely that a passive player will bluff.. But ive seen so strange bluffs from passive players live so why not..
i think you can 3b bigger preflop and cbet bigger. call the 4b.
You HAVE TO rr bigger pre, for sure. You said yourself he was super tight and only opened ONCE in 2 hours. The fact that he is opening utg is another indicator you should do everything you can pre to get all the money in. This is a dream situation pre. On a queen high flop, the money goes in. No chance you should EVER fold this flop. WAIT! I just noticed that nothing you said made sense. If he raised UTG, how in the hell are you check calling bets? Did he check raise you to $38 on the flop? That would be the ONLY way he would be able to raise.
Pre: 3bet bigger for sure
Flop: Wouldn't fault you for making a super explo fold vs this player. Or at least call and fold if he bets big on the turn. What is this player type check raising on the flop? No bluffs probably so that leavws value. Is he check raising hands like AQ, KQ? Personally I feel that is usually not the case. So that leaves sets.
Agreed I can 3-bet bigger pre-flop since he is so tight he surely has a big hand here. At the time I was thinking I don't want to lose him if I make it $35-40 and he gets super nitty with 1010 for instance and folds.
Also- Not sure where you guys are getting check raise from? I'm in the small blind and villain is UTG. I bet out on the flop and he raised me.
My "check call" comment was looking forward to the turn. If I flat this raise on the flop, I would probably check-call turn (or maybe check-fold if I can find it in me).
Check-call = OOP and we check first, then call a bet. At least that's my definition of check-call.
