In a weird spot to bluff/fold/call at river. Live NLHE
Binds 50/100. i raised 99 at MP ($20000 stack) to $300. Hijack,co and button calls( they have me covered).
Flop T s T c 7d,
i check and hijack bets $700. Everyone folds and i call. Hijack is an extremely tricky live player that take super weird lines. He is definitely a smart player that has an exploitively approach to the game. I haven been doing anything right vs this player for awhile and he has been making my life miserable in position. Have seen him done some crazy stuff b4 for sure.
Turn 7, he bets $2400. I'm not sure if i'm being too stubborn here on the turn and i'm pretty suspicious about his sizing too. i Have two 99s which are pretty relevant blockers to the board and i don't really feel he has much Tx in his range.
River bricks a trey and he bets $4500. At this point it seems like i'm on station mood because like other showdown bounded live donkeys, i felt pretty obliged to call. He's aware of how ranges works and he is capable of turning weird hands into bluff. I could foresee myself to call and see some Kings and Aces as well too. Pretty much hate my life at this moment and i hate all 3 options or calling/folding/raising. Just did a river raise bluff and got called a few hands prior to this and he knows i'm capable of running river bluffs. Should we bluff our 99s relentlessly and punish him for thin value betting (qq/kk/aa/7x), turn on station mood or fold our hand and move on with life?

Given 2 players left to act behind him I think the # of hands he gets tricky with diminishes significantly. We block all the 98 straight draw combos he could possibly be taking this line with, as well as some gutters like J9s, 96s.
Even if he was stabbing at the pot for protection with 7x he's now turned a boat. The flop suits are uncoordinated (what is the turn suit btw?) which puts less bluffs in his range as well.
Also why can't he have Tx here? Sure we block T9s but there's still JT through AT and maybe some T8s since he plays tricky. Quads are certainly in his range as well.
I feel like if we're deciding to c/c down vs. villain here on this board we should be doing it with a hand that's higher up in our range and isn't blocking any of villain's bluffs but also blocks his value hands (QQ-AA come to mind).
FWIW I mostly play 100NL/200NL online and definitely not HSNL so just my 2c :)
This is probably going to be one of the lowest equity bluff catchers in your range so Don't call and definitely don't raise.
Yeong Chin Wei, the amounts are not in US$ right? I remember you saying in another thread that the stakes you were playing were something like 5US$/10US$, is that correct? Where are you playing?
As for the hand, I'm definitely folding turn, and possibly flop. Sure, you have the best hand often enough, but you don't have a correct plan of action for further streets. You X/C flop, and then what? You have to know if he's exploiting you or not. Being 4 way to the flop, I'd say the likelihood of him stabbing absolute air decreases drastically. It's very likely for him to stab 7x and better though. So on this turn you're pretty much cooked, unless you have a good live read of the situation.
You say you're playing against a good tricky opponent that 'makes your life miserable'. You should either decide to call down very early in the hand (for a good reason obviously, for instance you believe he's barrelling everything all the time vs you in this situation), or fold very early in the hand. Putting money into the pot and ending up folding is just burning money. Putting money into the pot and then makin huge mistakes (calling or folding) for big amounts on the river, because you don't know what to do and are just guessing, is also a disaster.
Raise-bluffing this river is spewy IMO. You don't rep much at all, there's close to 0 chance of you making him fold better, especially if he's been owning you + seen you bluff river already. And especially if you might transmit some live tells. Don't bluff people that can read you like a book in live games, because it doesn't work. Either find other ways to own them than making big bluffs, or find ways not to give away tells.
