Identifying mixed strategies properly
Is there a way to easily identify spots, in-game, where mix strategies should be used?
or is it just a feel type thing after studying many spots over long periods of time?
Thanks

Could you clarify? By identifying spots do you mean specific hands like sometimes cking TP sometimes betting it?
I tend to mix up how I play hands in HU pots more often than in multi way pots, esp when playing with thinking players who I have developed history with. I do think game flow plays a big part and if you know how many tables V is playing you can use that against them.
I'm prob way off base though :) Looking forward to others thoughts
Interesting.. Can you give an example of a spot where two strata would have the same EV? Mathematically or hypothetically
One thing that comes to mind is how someone structures his 3bet range in nlhe HU, where he uses a certain range for the first 20 minutes and then switches to annother range of the same size but with different hands that have overall very similar equity preflop.
It's really tricky to give good advice that is also brief here. Because why a poker game's equilibrium does what it does usually relies on a massive amount of interdependent variables that humans just can't deal with.
But if I had to give a decent heuristic I'd say something like:
It's important to use more mixing when you can easily see that you will be punished (net dollars: so think of both frequency and avg pot size) for not doing so.
There's a video on the PioSolver YouTube page, I think the first one that I made, where I (probably not so eloquently) go over a decent example of this - where mixing occurs very frequently with quite a few groups of hands. And I talk about why that may be happening.
im going to go have a look at it, can you link me to any videos i might find interesting? Ive basically heard about pio solver but never used it. Im not at the level where playing a perfectly balanced game will have its benefits over playing a little bit exploitatively at the micros. Just interested in learning about these more advanced concepts.
