You're behind like 32 combos. Doing this on this board is like doing it with KTo on K72r. I would call flop lead and see what happened.
Thank you!!!!
Raise larger pre, too. What's the sense of raising to 5 cents? Pun not intended.
It's pretty standard in most games to min raise or 2.5x from the button. The reason is because you are going to do it with a wide (not strong) range and it allows you to keep the pot small with weaker hands, disguise your stronger hands, and lose less when you have to fold to 3bets or be able to call smaller 3bets wider in position.
But you would still do this at stakes this low? 2nl right on up?
I would. You have to be comfortable playing post flop and figuring out where you are in a hand. People make a lot of bad plays simply because it makes the hand easier to play, when the more difficult line that makes you think is more +EV.
Hands that want to get the money in on this flop: combo draws, nuts, some weaker 2 pairs vs bad players. Sets are unlikely but possible, as most players 3bet anything that makes a set on this flop. Its important to know what kind of player your opponent is so you can determine if he's calling your open w/ any 2 suited or if he's a solid player and has a tighter range. Some fish don't 3bet anyting and can have sets on this flop.
Call flop, evaluate turn is probably going to be the best play to get more value on later streets from weaker hands that fold to your flop raise.
Good info here. Thanks, crazy...
Thanks to all!
No, the reason to raise this small is the foldequity we need. We risk 2,5bb to win 2,5bb/2,5bb+0,5bb +1bb = 62,5%. So, we need 62,5 % foldequity. Let's take an example: SB folds 70% and BB 65%.
0.70x 0.65=0,45 or 45% So you dont have enough foldequity to raise any 2 cards from the BTN fpr 2,5. So your range have to be tighter. If they fold togehter 66%, you can openraise any 2 cards! You have always to consider your given foldequity you need in combination with your raisesize, to make lose steals profitable!
If you have 50 hands on him it would be helpful to provide stats. If he's fishy and randomly leading out, I'd raise for value and expect a ton of calls by weaker hands. If I get 3bet then I'm happily folding because I expect to be pretty crushed by his value range. And sometimes they'll make it small enough that you can draw to a boat with insane implied odds.
If he's a bit more solid, I'd just call cause I expect his leading range to be a lot stronger, dodge bad turn cards and decide between raising turn or just calling down.
