HUNL C/R with Gutshot
SB: $147.66
BB: $56.26 (Hero)
BB: $56.26 (Hero)
Early in the match heads up villain seems to be a reg and I have yet to see him do anything out of line.
Preflop
($0.75)
(2 Players)
Hero was dealt
9
J
SB raises to $1, Hero calls $0.50
SB raises to $1, Hero calls $0.50
Flop
($2.25)

(2 Players)
Hero checks,
SB bets $1.50,
Hero raises to $4.98,
SB calls $3.48
Think most villains will cbet this board often enough that we can get a good amount of folds when we checkraise plus i have the gutshot and back door hearts.
Turn
($12.21)
T
K

6
(2 Players)
Hero bets $8.13,
SB calls $8.13
Turn gives us more equity and we can potentially fold out Tx or hands similar to our own that float flop. However I think betting turn is worse against a villain that does not have a three betting range on flop as he still has a lot of flush draws as well as sets and two pairs that are not folding.
River
($28.47)

(2 Players)
Hero bets $22,
SB calls $22
I can see an argument for both checking and betting this river is it optimistic to expect villain to fold Kx enough on the river to make this profitable. My other concern is that if river is a heart or we hit out gutshot should we continue betting or is it better to bet. If villain just calls more against my flop check raise range do we end up overbluffing or even value cutting ourselves too often when we hit?
Final Pot
Hero has
9
J
SB has
A

SB
wins $71.72

don't c/r flop, don't barrell off
The hand looks okay. Every decision is reasonable. C/r gutshot barreling off is rarely going to print money, but its an important part of a balanced strategy.
We don't have sets of 10s and Ks in our range and maybe even K10s for some. So we should lower our bluffing frequencies since our value frequencies are way lower. So there are better hands to bluff with in our range imo if we even want to have a c/r range there which doesn't seem to be the trend atm.
Again it's not going to make a lot of money, but its never a strategic mistake to do.
Thanks guys and I assume that on a different turn where we dont pick up the additional equity you would give up to avoid overbluffing after check raising flop.
