How to Handle this Advanced Play(?) (HH review)

I've been unable to post hands in the proper format so I'm hoping this is ok.

This hand happened at .10/.25 which I don't normally play. Every now and then I'll take a shot at it. Sometimes it goes well sometimes it does not. I don't really have any reads or anything. This was about 10 hands in and I don't have any hands on the players at this table. However I have watched villain in a few other hands get really aggro.

I've been finding myself in this exact situation more and more lately. I don't know how to handle it. I don't want to simply call and let them draw out on me. If villain wants to chase his draw I want him to pay. Unfortunately it seems I'm the one who always ends up paying. I certainly can't fold what I know is the best hand at the time...right? I'll admit that at these stakes these player are much more advanced than I am. And this situation only seems to come up when I take a shot at higher stakes. So maybe I'm just not ready yet. Maybe I'm not thinking ahead enough.

I can definitely see why he did what he did. A lot of turns will improve him to the nuts. But it's still a draw and getting it all in on a draw just doesn't seem all that advanced to me. He has to know I'm not bluffing here. But maybe I'm very naive to what's really going on here.

Hopefully you all can shed some light on this for me. I'd love some feedback.

Thanks!

Don't think this is too advanced, honestly think it's a bit of a punt from villain, he folds out flush draws that he dominates so he's just taking the raw equity of his hand, guaranteeing getting it in behind and avoiding chances to cooler his opponent, would be more ok with villains play if they had something like a pair + combo draw to block sets/2 pair/straights, be ahead of NFD and also have good equity vs the nuts or with just something like pair + backdoors that can raise -> fold rather than be forced to call it off.

You got it all in on the flop from a 15+ spr ahead, the fact that you got drawn out on doesn't change the fact that you played this hand completely fine.

It seems perfectly fine to me. We can debate betting bigger on flop potentially but other than that, seems ok.

Vs. a reasonable stack off range you are 2:1 favorite. His play might be a bit too bold with a naked NFD, but here it seems reasonable. I expect him to have a 10 combo "nutted" range (88/55/54/85s). You have @ 38% vs that range. I expect him to potentially have something like ATss-A2ss in a BB range that doesn't squeeze pre. That would put him at 6 NFD combos (two of which are combo draws). He does have a FD with 76s but that's a made straight already.

Not to mention, you block his best potential NFD holding (A4ss). Oh yeah, you also block flush completion.

Well played.

I think you both played it fine. From his perspective, your hand looks like an over pair, and he's ahead of all of them (even assuming you have a spade) except aces (which is close to a coin flip). After you you raise him on the flop, I don't think him calling makes much sense. His stack to pot ratio is just so high at this point, that check-folding probably isn't a good idea, so he might as well go all in and gather whatever little fold equity he might have. I like your bet and your raise on the flop. Honestly, this hand just seems like a cooler for whichever player loses. Keep it up! Won't happen every time.

I think you played the hand fine with the small exception that your preflop raise should be a little large than a min-raise. I would have made it 3bb or 3.5bb. The action on the flop is fine in my opinion, as you are a 2-1 favorite at this point, getting all the money in at this point is a very good thing in this specific hand. Variance can be a cruel bitch sometimes, but in the long run, you are making an extremely profitable play. In general, against a big blind's defend range, you are most likely even a bigger favorite than that. I know it sucks when they get there, but you will see in the long run that getting it all in as a huge statistical favorite will be very kind to your bankroll. Short term variance is all you are seeing. Keep playing with players that like to get all the money in on a draw as a big underdog and you will be a very happy camper.

That's great! I really thought that I messed up somewhere along the way. I was pretty confident in what I'd done but started to wonder if maybe a call would've been better. I definitely agree that my sizing needs work. In fact that's one thing I'm working on now. And the fact the he got there doesn't really bother me. It stings in the moment but I'm fairly used to it now. It happens multiple times a day at this point.

Thanks for all the great feedback! I really appreciate it.
