HELP please!!!!! :)
Hello run it once community. Recently, poker has been very brutal and I've been losing at a crazy amount. Prior to this I was a decent winner winning decently, had my share of bad beats and stuff but I would be able to overcome them and still win. But for maybe 2 weeks now I've been getting absolutely smashed, I think im losing somewhere between 10-20 bb/100 its quite embarrassing.
First off, let me say I'm not a results orientated person, like those people that get mad when they fold 92 when the flop came 992. I'm also not someone who likes to blame variance and stuff, even if I think I ran bad during a session I always go back through poker tracker and re evaluate all of the big hands and always look to improve my game. And even though poker has been brutal recently I still LOVE poker.
Now, I'm still kind of a beginner. So I was wondering how long is a typical downswing and how much do people lose during a downswing? Does it sound like I'm having a downswing? If I was playing in a stake where I had a big edge in, what would my losing rate be if I was on a downswing? If I'm not on a downswing, what are some things I can do to make myself play better and stop losing? I can take a downswing and if i know I'm having a downswing im okay with that but I'm worried I'm playing bad.
I would really appreciate some feedback and help, thank you guys! :)
Merry christmas and happy new years to all.

It depends on your edge. If you have a WR of 5~6bb/100 in 200k, I think a downswing could be easily 30k, 40k. It could be even bigger but not as frecuent.
If you have a WR on 200k of 3~4bb/100, it could be even bigger. Try to improve your game (and your mindeset) and run through it, there is no other way.
Thank you I appreciate your help :)

His other stuff is very good as well.
Thank you :)
I hope I can help with a little persepective.
I've played somewhere in the region of 4million cash game hands with an overall (all formats) of 5bb/100.
My most profitable game is full ring where I have an 8bb/100 wr over approx 3million hands. So its safe to say im a above average winner in the games I play (mostly NL100, some NL200/Nl50)
Now comes the but... if we only look at my Full ring hands - the best results - over that same sample I have had multiple 100k break even/slightly losing ro break even periods and at least 30k stretch where i've lost more than 10bb/100.
So I would say the short term is anything under 100-200k hands and results for any smaller samples are not too important. Sure its enough to give us an overall picture of our game and our leaks but its sill a relatively small sample.
One of the most important lessons I've learnt from Poker is that we should embrace and welcome downswings, these are the times where we learn the most, about poker and about ourselves (which is a big part of poker). So downswings are valuable. Why not twist your way of thinking to see this period as an opportunity for growth, to improve, rather than be stressed and see this as a disaster?
Thank you for your response!! :) Its very helpful
