Getting value from the forums

I see a lot of people posting hands and just asking what other people would do and leaving out the most important part; THE ASSUMPTIONS. This goes for everyone trying to get better - If you really want to learn then you need to make range assumptions and post those assumptions along with the sizing assumptions you think are correct. Without this information, someone else may have a totally different assumption of opponents ranges and give you advice that is incorrect for the range assumptions you are using. 2 of the main subjects within poker that are the most important are range-interaction and bet sizing, but yet we fail to leave this out of our posts constantly. To understand poker better, we need to be on the same page.. And I am not saying I am perfect, I am guilty of it too!

Here is an example, watch the video and view the comments: http://www.runitonce.com/poker-training/videos/piosolver-hand-history-review/

Hope everyone sees the importance of this post. Without posting the assumptions along side the HH, you may or may not be getting help. You may just be hindering the learning process.

I agree with you. I think the main purpose of discussing a hand history is to see if our assumptions in game were reasonable and if so checking if our strategy is the best one giving the assumptions we had. However, I was participating on the thread that propably motivated you to do this post and should be our concern to give answers without being negative/arrogant. I'm not saying you did this but it might seem like you did, and this can happen to anyone

I agree.By giving your own input, people will be able to identify your leaks quicker and you'll improve as a player faster.Being spoon fed everything definitely isnt the way to go!

Hi 678, i cant agree more. But everything takes time, right?Tell u what, people in Chinese poker forums are always talking about how to play the particular holding in the particaular spot (and talking about the badbeats ,the luck....)Hardly anyone cares about the range vs range interaction or what is the best sizing or what is the MDF.So u can imagine the quality of the discussions in Chinese forums.Everything takes time.....

And i am a big fan of u,ur words really helped me a lot.I wanna say THANK U.( i am not the affiliate :D). About that video,i think u must do better than Paul on Pio.I am a little bit confused at the beginning of the video why he sets the starting pot to 6 not 60.He wants to use the 25%psb but Pio cant bet 1.5 (can only bet 1 into 6=1/6psb or 2 into 6=1/3psb)...maybe this is not a big deal, but i cant see any reason not using the 60 instead of 6 if he wants to bet 1/4psb OTF.

Sorry for my english again ,hope u can understand.

I don't think your point about Chinese poker forums is objective or veracious . In fact , Chinese players are good at analysing range v range interaction. Chinese poker rooms are hard to defeat.
By the way , i agree with 678 about the significance of range assumption while discussing spots. I am a big fan of 678, too.
