Foundations Course with Phil Galfond
So i have been using this course for a while. A little tilted at the fact that i bought it a week before the sale but that's beyond my control. In terms of the overall course though, i believe its good for anyone who is not a complete beginner and are already acquainted with the language of poker. The gto basics are explained really well and i got most of it during my first run through of the course and have almost fully grasped it within subsequent rewatches, but once you get into the pre-flop gameplay, it becomes a little more ambiguous and almost implied that you know what Phil is talking about. I am a beginner and a lot of the language that poker has is still tricky. this course is still, by far, the better beginner course out there. A lot of other "beginner courses" don't hold your hand and the teacher seems like he wants to look smart instead of actually teach. I don't get that sense here. I believe Phil runs into the problem of wanting this course to be approachable to the average beginner but is so high level, himself, that he struggles to find a balance between holding your hand and letting you figure it out yourself. If this course ever gets an update. I think it would be beneficial if there is a little more handholding. Maybe a small explanation of the topic he's talking about before he goes on with the rest of the discussion. He does great with that in the GTO Fundamentals but then it gets dropped after. Until then, if anyone reads this and wants to know if its worth a buy, it is. its really good. once you reach the pre-flop topics, its worth doing a quick google search of what he's talking about before you go into it. Almost like meeting him half way. Cause once you know what's being spoken on, his reasoning makes a lot more sense. My critiques aren't a make or break nor should it be. it would benefit from a little more explanation but it also doesn't take much to do google searches of the topics as well. so it's still worth every penny.
