Flatting or 3 bet vs recs from the blinds? Linear or polar?
SB vs btn is usually a linear 3 betting range, where SB doesn't want to give BB pot odds, so chooses to 3bet to win pot immediately via FE, Isolate vs btn and play heads up where SB will have better equity share.
BB usually 3bets polar range because hands want to keep their equity share rather than face a 4 bet from the btn.
Tyler forrester said low stakes players 4 bet less than 10%, which I agree with, I think its more like 5% of hands. My question is why 3 bet polar when you rarely face a 4bet anyways? Why not just 3 bet linear like the SB since recs tend to call or fold anyways? Also how linear should we be 3 betting? Yes, we want to avoid high rake, but we also want to keep dominated hands in their calling range. Would flatting ATo and AJo be better to keep A9o-A4o and A9s-A2s in their range, where if we both flop top pair they are dominated. I always thought merged 3 betting is better vs sticky players both IP and OOP. Why bloat the pot with a polar range oop when they tend to call 3 bets?
