Do we just have to fold and when? 200NLZ

(MP): 213.35 BB
(CO): 124.08 BB
(BTN): 117.51 BB
(SB): 106.55 BB
(BB): 50 BB
Hero (UTG): 114.7 BB

P4 posts SB 0.5 BB, P5 posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 8s 7s
Hero raises to 2.5 BB, fold, fold, BTN calls 2.5 BB, fold, fold

Flop : (6.5 BB, 2 players) 8h 7d 9s
Hero bets 4.08 BB, BTN raises to 13.82 BB, Hero calls 9.75 BB

Turn : (34.14 BB, 2 players) 6d
Hero checks, BTN bets 14.22 BB, Hero calls 14.22 BB

River : (62.58 BB, 2 players) Td
Hero checks, BTN bets 86.97 BB and is all-in, Hero...?

I'm planning to fold most rivers but the 10 seems like a bad card for villain. Could see folding turn as well, which if we're going to fold river we might as well fold turn.

I'd fold preflop (halfstack in BB). On flop I'd rather x/c than b/c. If I had bet, my betsize would've been ~2bb.

As played, what do you actually beat on the turn? I'd just muck it and be fine with it. On the river, you are thinking about risking 87 bb to win 31 bb? Why?

Not much that we had done the same way. :)

Yeah I'm not sure I noticed BB was 1/2 stack, was probably on autopilot pre. Think flop should be a X/C as well and we can probably just fold turn. Thanks for the reply.

Preflop seems fine although 78s is a bit on the lower end of opens. Could be fine given it's a fish in the BB.
Flop you need to check. We don't have many strong hands compared to our air hands and we want our checking range to be solid. You can simplify here by checking entire range.
I ran this through a solver because I wanted to make sure that what I'm saying was right and solver is checking 99.9% here. So betting flop was a mistake.

When you check you protect and get value by raising around 15%. Mainly 99, 88 (50%), straights and then some bluffs thrown in. It is never playing agressive with 87s.
The reason for this is that you have a terrible redraw when you are behind but they have a solid redraw with their draws. You want to keep their bluffrange as wide as possible with those bluffcatching type of hands.

As played you have to fold turn. You have a terrible redraw and are very likely behind.

River is interesting but he could have JT, QJ here way more than us. We are paying too much for a split pot. Just fold and learn from the hand.

Thanks for running this through a solver. Not sure why checking flop didn't occur to me in-game but we definitely should be checking flop. X/C flop and X/F turn to most turn bets seems best in review. Thanks for the reply.

I would start by checking otf.Bu has both range and nut advantage, it's a bad flop for utg.
You have 2 pair but a lot of turn and river cards are going to be tough to play oop.Turn i think is close vs this size, anything bigger and it's a fold.As for the river i'm not calling here with worse than Jx.Most of his flop calling range connects well with the river and turn cards. What is he bluffing turn that's not Jx or fd?

Yeah in hindsight I like a check on the flop, didn't even occur to me in-game for some reason, would've folded turn to a bigger bet. River tripped me up because what JX does he reasonably X/R OTF other than J10? Just seemed like a big % of the his made hands got counterfeited and was trying turning them into a bluff. That said, I think we should X/C flop and most likely X/F turn unless he bets pretty small. Thanks for the reply.
