Constructing a range for 6max 9max MTT

How does one go about doing this? I always hear people say thing like " You want to construct a range here for so and so" so my question is how do I go about constructing ranges? Is it something I need to do in poker stove? Thanks a lot. I know this is a hard question to answer but generally speaking in 6max/ 9max what percentage of hands are a good start point for both those games? Thanks.

People have literally written books about this. Since the topic is not really specific to mtt's I would recommend reading Pokers 1% by Ed Miller or Let There Be Range. I asked a similar question on here last week (here) in this forum.

Really the best way I was able to start was w the easy one UTG. Just write down all the hands you open UTG and that is the beginning of a range. You will also want Equilab, Flopzilla, Pokercruncher, or an equity and range calculator of some type.

For example: Villain opens UTG and you are in the CO w A10s. Use the range you constructed for UTG enter it into the equity calculator and then enter your hand and run the calculation. That will give you your hands equity against villains range.

Hope that helps.
