Complete spew?

Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 (6 Players) BN: $10.00
SB: $16.22 (Hero)
BB: $9.78
UTG: $10.00
MP: $31.84
CO: $11.34
Preflop ($0.15) Hero is SB with K J
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.30, 2 folds, Hero raises to $1.00, BB folds, MP calls $0.70
Only 20 hands on villain who is 15/5, so pretty snug
Flop ($2.16) 8 6 7
Hero bets $0.62, MP calls $0.62
At the time i felt this board hit my SB 3betting range quite hard, but in retrospect it hits villain's flatting range hard too. I think cbetting here is OK, but i shoudl be going at least 1/2 pot
Turn ($3.40) 8 6 7 4
Hero bets $2.44, MP calls $2.44
Pick up the diamond draw so I'm betting again with intention of following through if i make it
River ($8.28) 8 6 7 4 9
Hero bets $12.15 and is all in, MP calls $12.15
Spew?
Final Pot SB lost and shows high card King.
MP wins and shows a straight, Six to Ten.
MP wins $31.11
Rake is $1.47

i didn't want to check give up when it bricked OTR, but really what am i representing? My sets and 2 pairs which i could have are probably check calling, the heart draw didnt get there, i am less likely to have T9s with the 9 on board, and would i barrel JT with a gutshot like this?

Obviously ends up being a pretty easy call for villain with TT, a straight and blockers to the nuts. But should i just be check giving up OTR given how few value hands i have in my range?

Hi Darren,
Im new in commenting on hands so dont take me to seriously, but i will give my opinion.
To know who hit the flop best/has Range advantage on the flop, its important to know the preflop ranges. U say u have all the sets and 2 pairs. But would that be a good preflop strategy to 3b 66,77,88 against an MP open, especially against probably a nit who doesnt open so much? I think in theory villian has a slightly RA, not sure.

Next question is what is our strategy if we dont have RA (again I look at theory, instead if u 3b 66/77/88 always yes u have RA) Most times if we dont have RA we dont want to bet, because opponent has more incentive to raise. So I think a check is best on flop. And to defend your checks, u have to X/R some hands. I dont know excatly if this is a good candidate. Maybe someone else can explain us more about it.

Thanks. If I am adopting a 3bet or fold strategy out the SB, my 3bet range would look something like this, maybe also with 89s, but probably not 87s. So i would have the sets, but unlikely any two pairs. I agree that the RA is not clearly in my favour, but that is just how i (erroneously) assessed the position in the moment

Seems fine, bluffing backdoor Fd is better than frontdoor. Having some random AQs would have Even more fold equity otr. But i doubt we want to barrel those at high frequency so i Will jam some backdoors.

Defently need to split up the range on this flop, not rangebet

Pete Clarke recommends checking this flop in his course FTGU. It’s too wet and hits a flatting range too hard. If you do bet this you need to bet more (70% pot maybe?) but you already noted this.

The problem on the turn is that when he calls flop in position, his range is rather uncapped. Sets are all over his range, and so are straights, nut flush draws, 2 pair, etc. I don’t mind a bigger bet here but when he calls you should realize that villain likes his hand.

And it’s a tough river spot. Only way to win the hand is to follow through on the bluff, but when villain has better than top pair here he’s calling most times. I see you repping AA or KK or QQ with this shove, so any hand that beats that should be calling, and based off of previous analysis (and how coordinated this board is) I’d say this is a pretty sketchy bluff spot.

I think you have a give up. He’s a Tight passive type. His calling range From mp - high midpairs -is decimating your barreling range and he’s only folding like jacks.
