Calling Bets with a flush draw

When you flop a flush draw whats the thought process? (theoretically speaking lets say its a high broadway card A-J and not low card) ive been studying poker math books and videos and according to the math you have 9 outs or 19% equity, if you are faced with a large bet, 3/4 pot, pot, ect. are you simply making the call justified with implied odds or are you only continuing with a 4:1 price or better? I understand board texture and pre flop action changes decisions but overall how do you base your decisions for continuing flush draws? i think im torching money calling flush draws, missing, and folding, especially flopping or turning the nut draw.
