calling 3bets oop
Hello everyone! i am struggling with calling 3bets oop. I am just wondering, are suited connectors a +ev call oop? lets say co vs btn ?

I would say against a good range it's around 0EV, maybe marginally plus.
Given most people don't 3bet wide enough the suited connectors tend to be minus EV. If you do call them, I prefer the real low ones such as 54, 56, 67. Has to do with reverse implied odds and being dominated. 98s for example is considered the worst due to on TJQ where you make a straight, opponents AK kicks your ass.
based on my database analysis, i lose more from calling, than folding. But that has to do on many factors, postflop play,op range, position, op skills, op sizing.
Do you think a good reg can make this +ev call oop?
what about calling IP? lets say btn vs SB.
IP should increase the equity realization and therefor EV. So it's better calls IP yes.
I think a good reg will just overfold preflop and not be in these situations.
- Their 3bet range is too strong compared to solvers
- They cbet too often
Generally leads to your EV dropping with these hands on most boards. When they do hit they make more money.
Another good strategy (exploit) would be to raise often against flop cbets.
But my advice remains to just overfold.
optimal fold to 3bet? 60%? 65? even 70% ?
is defending 35% of my opening range,ok?
It should be around 60% optimal. Only defending 35% is perfectly fine given people under 3bet.
